Hey walton, how long are the races? What kinda pace is cat 4
I work nights so I cant go, but would love to....same with all the Velodrome action. Grrr.
huss, http://www.obra.org/flyers/2008/tues_pir.html
Im a cat 5, but I may try sneaking into the 3/4 after I go one week. I mean the 4/5 only race 8 miles. $15 for 8 miles? Seems like a gyp to me.
Races differ and the different levels are different lengths as well
Cat 1/2/3 is 40 miles
Cat 3/4 is 30 miles
Cat 4/5 is 8 miles

Huss I have never raced CAT 4 before I just started racing a few weeks ago.
Walton, saw your results on Obra. Nice work, you'll be a Cat 3 in no time.
yea well done
Props Walton. I am cat-4 from racing when I was a wee lad. I was about to upgrade to 3 when I went to college. I don't really race anymore but I am considering that nasty Eugene Roubaix in a couple of weeks.
Nice.
How was the pace in the 3/4 group?
Im gonna hit up the 4/5s next week. Anyone else?
Is there normally a group that rides up to PIR together? My coworker who used to race said they would meet somewhere on the east side and ride up there together, but im sure this was years back.
I was thinking of riding up there next week too. You can a get license the day of, right?
yeah you can get a license the day of
Grimm,
The PSU and Ironclad teams ride in from Downtown, I think. Either that, or they take MAX. Look for the black/yellow or lime green kit.
Anyone want to ride up today from SE? Start at about 4:30 or 4:45 at a slow, warm-up pace.
edit: I can't go this week because I have to register for classes. But next week, I hope.
Anyone going this week? Im a little iffy, but ill probably do it. Leaving from SE around 5 hopefully.
Im still a bit disappointed that the 4/5s are only 8 miles. My buddy was telling me to just go jump in the with the 3/4s.
If anyone is bored around 6-7:30 or so maybe you can catch a glimpse of all of us playing roadie around the race track here:

i might try to but I get out of school at 5:45 and don't have any of my stuff...
I skipped PIR today. I had just gotten a route figured out when my boss asked my to go play bike polo for a little photoshoot. How could I turn that down? So I spent 45 minutes dribbling a hockey ball past a bunch of pretty polite outdoor clothing models. The only thing that would have made it better is if I was getting paid. Hah. I doubt any of my photos will get published where im recognizable, but hopefully my boss will pass me my photos for personal use.
it was fun but there was a few people crash in the 3/4's.
yeah a guy i know brian was in that 3/4 crash. took a spill in the corner and couldn't remember his name or anything, got taken to the er. seems to be fine save some nasty road rash and a black eye.
