Fuck, dude. That is some shit. So like 1cm of your right index? One of my buddies cut off a fairly substantial part of his thumb on a bandsaw during shop class in middle school. It was reattached and was gross gnar for a while, but it's fine now. I'll pray to Bike Jesus for ya.

Workers' Comp shouldn't have anything to do with how a company treats you. If the company is paying its' insurance, which it has to by law if it has employees, then their money has already been going to cover things like this. Have you talked to your boss about his WC insurance? I obviously don't know you or your boss, but it seems to me that a boss who tries to sheist a young employee out of benefits for an on-the-job incident, especially one that didn't involve employee negligence, isn't the kind of boss worth working for....

Anybody? Anybody know Jerome's boss? Am I crazy??

Yer spot on. I worked as a Commercial Insurance Broker for 3 years up in Seattle. You can get workers comp for repetitive stress injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome...

yah romey have them cover your medical and time away from work.

workmans comp doesn't "screw over the company" no matter how good they are to you. like crossfix said, they're insured against accidents like this to help their employees when these things occur. so I would talk to them about it and at least get your medical covered.

Ouch, I sniped the very, very tips of two of my fingers with a mower once. Nothing to reattach but it hurt like a mother.

Atleast you have your right hand still to pick your nose.

This really fucking sucks. I hope your finger ends up being OK. I'm going to be extra careful with my fucking cog from now on, I've had a few close calls.

  15.

also last night i was messed up so i didnt get to post this.
here is the whole gruesome story.
so as you know i was cleaning my chain. the rag got stuck in the cog and pulled my finger through. i screamed "FUCKKKKK" and the manager was there and was like "JEROME, SHHH" cause a customer had just come in. i was like no, im fucked up and he turned around and saw what had happened. at this point im stanbing around looking at my finger which is bleeding everywhere. there was blood all over the ground and all over my hands. he freaked out and was running around. he got a shop rag and gave it to me. i wrapped it around my finger which helped the bleeding. he said that he was calling the ambulance but i said no cause it costs money. i told him to call my house. no one answered, i called my neighbor, still no one answered. he was on the shop phone calling my dad at work and i was on my cell calling my dads cell phone. i still couldnt get a hold of anyone. i finally called this other neighbor and she answered, the only thing was that she was in SE. i told her what happened and she said shed take me. after that we called my other coworker cause his roomate has a car. she wasnt home. i tried my dads cell again and finally got ahold of him. while all of this was happening the customer was still watching all of this. when i got ahold of my dad he didnt believe me. finally my boss convinced him that yes, jerome cut his finger off. he came and brought me to the hospital where they stuck me in a room and got the doctor.
when the doctor came in he said he could sew it back on. it took around 8 half full syringes of stuff to get my finger numb. at this point my mom had shown up and my father was crying in the hallway. i think freebird and any other pdxfixxer that has a kid can feel this.. he couldnt take the fact that part of his son was gone, severed from him. the doc was sewing finger back on and i watched. it was super weird. ill have pics later people.

you'll be fine I've seen that same injury four or five times at various machine shops i've worked at. if you didn't get bone or tendons crunched it'll just be a really weird fingernail for a memento

  21.

since yer folks probably have insurance just do that. But I'm telling you str8 up if it happened at work whether or not you were on the clock or working on your bike don't matter, the owners insco will cover it. If you wanna keep working there, own up and have the folks cover the bills. It's like if I were to slip and fall at safeway, their Personal injury coverage would extend to that. But i'm sure you want to keep working there and stuff, but I just wanted you to know.
