    surprise answer here: vans slips

    i own a lot of other sneakers... most of which sit and collect dust and sometimes get given away/sold because they're not so good for riding. couple years ago i painted houses for a summer and bought these with part of the earnings:

    first time i wore em was in philadelphia to go to some fancy restaurant birthday dinner thing. on the subway towards downtown three fat girls laughed in my face about my "bootleg-ass lookin fake nikes that they forgot to even put the check on". haha... also have a few am95s and jordans. never have spent more than $50 on a shoe (that i can remember), though, i'm proud to say.

    Look into Addias shoes. They have a track shoe that is lace up with a cover zipper. I've been meaning to give them a try. They also are slotted to take SPD-Rs

    As for my shoes, I pretty much dont wear them if I can get away with it. And if I am wearing shoes, I aint wearing socks. I hate socks. Only time I ever wear them is for rugby

    I'm thinking about wearing recycled leather shoes.
    Vegan synthetic leathers are textiles coated with PVC.
    PVC is a toxic material that poisons the environment in its' manufacture, production and decomposition
    Look it up.
    Plastics and PCB's harm more animals than leather manufacture in the long run.
    Recycled leather is the way to go.
    Recycled leather has a life span of at least 15 years, once it's been reused.
    Recycled leather biodegrades completely in less than 50 years with no by-products or toxins released.
    Recycled leather doesn't destroy habitat, harm population health, cause mutation or sterility, or end up floating in the ocean for centuries.

    Think about that for a few before you buy your next pair of 'Vegan" shoes.

    Unfortunately, "most" is a gross exaggeration in this day and age of "green" marketing. I only hope the footwear industry takes cues from the informed and educated leaders and truly considers their impact on the environment and sustainability in their sourcing, production, marketing and distribution practices as the general public becomes more clued-in about true eco-friendliness and conscientious consumerism.
