I'm not pointing any fingers at any specific individuals, but I would bet that some people who include levers, pump, tube, and tools in their "bag photos" don't actually carry them most of the time.

If I was a man, it would be much funnier than I often carry around a bag load of lingerie and women's underwear and six-inch heals. But since we're talking about me, it's not that funny.
But even with all that shit...
I ALWAYS include:
crescent wrench,
cO2 pump + two cartidges,
multi-tool,
tube,
patch kit,
2 neon pink tire levers,
u-lock (doubles as self-defense technique),
tweezers,
finger nail clippers,
neosporin,
bandaids,
pen,
mini-notebook,
cigarettes,
lighter and back up lighter
extra jacket or hoodie (and pants if i am wearing shorts) and gloves if i am not wearing them. and balaclava if it's raining.

keysp.s. also lip balm. blistex lip medex. which i found.. its not even mine but it works great you just wipe off the top layer and good to go.. oh and i forgot.. two bonus mini-tampons.. you never know when your crotch might bleed.

T he levers, pump and tube are always in my bag when i go on a ride. and yes the wrench is still packaged, decided to lose the 15mm cause and adjustable would be more versatile. AND YES....... i BBQ'ed that shit up!

I don't have a bag photo, but i'm guilty of this... my pump stays on my frame, then allen wrenches + patch kit + spare tube go between various and the floor or some counter in my house. that hasn't bit me in the ass in a couple years, though.
tonight it's once again 26.5lbs of clothes from the bins. e-business is booming.

real talk:
i got a beat to shit timbuk2 small bag for a buck. took some change-of-clothes and snacks to work, yadda yadda yadda. i empty it out when i get home, hear some weird rattling...
find some dude's prescription medication, a book of first-class stamps, and a joint or a handrolled cigarette. interesting.
so in my bag earlier today was that shit, nike frees (that got replaced by diadoras with look cleats), a t-shirt, clif bar, powerade, phone, wallet, and patch kit.
mmm... mystery cigarette.
