talcum powder is good too...plus it soaks up moisture. cocoa butter and baby powder are great if you're a bit ashy.

Gators for commuting. Havnt flatted one in 4+ years

Have gp4000s on the road race, but only because thats what it came with.

As for training on the track, Conti Stehers are dope. I raced them last year as well.

This year, I'll be rolling Pista Evos on the track. Everything else feels like rolling on garden hose

    Nice.

I think im gonna roll cora evos on the track. Cause im running clincher rims. Oh and ill be riding to the track. So, they gotta stand up to that too. Ive only gotten one hole in my corsa that I ran up front on my road bike all season, but they feel pretty great.

I have GP4000s too, I like them, dont feel as good as the corsa, but I think they will stand up to a lot more.

the tarck is a place where people do barspins and ride around in backwards circles.

people ride around in circles on the track, too, but they aren't backwards, and barspins will get you chased off the field.

    oh, the answer is 19-23mm...

Last year, I used 25c. Ill have 23c for the Evos. The larger, the better for ze sprints.

And yes, barspins are looked down apon at the track. So are skids. Ask Jay Brown. He got religated for it while sprinting me. I thought it was funny as hell, but Candi didnt

I want to go to 28c if they will fit. Up front I want something with a kevlar bead that won't slide much in the wet. Out back either a 26c Eversquare (they run big) or something cheep. Any recommendations for a front tire?

So my back tire is out. I've gotten a flat every Friday for the last four weeks and an occasional other day as well. Anyway, I want to throw something else on the front and use the gatorskin I have up there as a rear tire, but I don't know what. I was thinking a Conti GP4000 as I really like my gatorskin already and am enamored with German products. What else would you guys recommend for a front? Also, where can I get it the cheapest? Bike Gallery only sells GP4000s for $64.... Which seems like a hell of a lot of money to me.

I run Somas, and until today I didn't have a single problem. But after reading this thread earlier, I decided to check my walls, and lo and behold, a nice big crack. Fuck.
So I'll probably be ordering some gatorskins.

    RE: Soma Eversquare

Here's is mine after a summer in Seattle and a winter in a garage, taken out on sunny days. I've run a front brake with this tire on the back and about half the tread is still there. I emailed them about it today, and see what they have to say. I put a free-pile Specialized Turbo (kevlar bead) on there in the time being, and I've been working on my fishtail skidz.

gatorskins are nice winter tires, but the ones i always end up getting are 25 or 28, so i usually end up going wtih schwalbe stelvios for summer riding. at least for the front. a good summer skid tire IMO (i'm lightweight) is the serfas seca. i usually run a randonneur, but they're a little big when it ain't wet out. another good tire is the continental ultra sport, which i ran a few summers back. they come nice and thin, so its good for them summah sprintz

Soma emailed me back. i can either take it to my LBS for possible warranty, or reference the email for half-off ordering it direct, but do I really want another Eversquare?

Anyone used the Evenflow or the New Xpress? The Eversquare take a little more effort to skid, I can skid about twice as far on the shitty tire I have on the back now.

I like vredestein fortezza tricomps, they are pretty spendy but they ride so nice. I only skid if I absolutely have too, so they last a good amount of time for me. Anybody know of orange tires other than vredestein?

New Xpress is the worst tire I have ever had. I refuse to buy any Somas ever again based off that tire. Lots of punctures, grip was okay. And the first one I had was so poorly manufactured the bead was too big and cause 3 tube explosions while pumping it up.

Thank you. What a bummer. I have a Kevlar bead Panaracer Dart tire on the front of my fixed MTB and it's a damn good tire. Hopefully I can get the tire warrantied and get a merch credit at whatever LBS I bring it to.

free binz. right now I got a conti ultra gatorskin in back. at first it was so gummy that it was hard to skid, but now it's nice and worn in a little. dont know how long itll last but it was free. when you skid through tires even somewhat regularly it doesn't really make too much sense to spend money on em when you can get decent ones free. someone school me on why I should be really anal about what tires I use if you want. I got my Kenda POS stock Kilo TT tire up front that Ive had for 8 months. Never had a problem with it up front, although when I had the kenda in the rear I skidded through it in less than a week and got like 4 punctures.

I do like a good front tire, but the back one really doesn't matter. It doesn't stick around long enough. I did the same thing back in my BMX days, riding "freestyle" with a coasterbrake, I would just buy 8 dollar Cheng Shin blackwalls and burn thru them.
