one of my friend matt's knogs got gone the other night, even though he had two (identical, rear) on his bike.

My Knogs have been safe in theft-prone Eugene, but since losing one in PDX when I was away from the bike for 5 minutes tops, I don't like leaving them on anymore.

I honestly have no idea what's good with this Master Key thing this guy was telling me about downtown... maybe someone figured out how to make a bump key for Krypto locks.

the keys from different level kryptonite locks don't look the same, aren't the same shape/size/ etc and have different numbers of tumblers.. so a master key would be some kind of magical device....

so some bum walking around with a bic pen does not hold "master key", because it won't work on 90% of locks out there... kryptonite replaced any of their round-key locks for free after that video circulated.. and still does... so no one has those locks anymore. all they had to do is mail it back and a new one was sent to them. even master lock and bell changed all their u-locks to use a regular flat key.. that being said more people use crappy cable locks than old u locks, so his master key had better be some giant cutters..

    Posting for a friend:

My cross-bike was stolen from the 39th/Hawthorne Fred Meyer parking lot this past Sunday.

    It is a Black K2 Enemy cross-bike - (aka dropped handlebars w/ fat tires). Serial # TK261100259
    (Photo attached)

    Other distinguishing traits are:

after-market full fenders, also black - (although they could be removed)
all factory installed reflectors on the wheels and frames were removed. it had a removable after-market headlight and back blinker.
spd-sl pedals (although these may get traded out to standard pedals at some point)
pink brake pads - these really stand out and were not original to the bike.

This bike was not sold "over-the-counter" so to speak, here in Portland. If you spot one, there is a good chance it's mine.
    Please call Portland Police - 503 823 3333, Case #08-126001.

not trying to bust chops, but did this stolen listing just become a bike check?

I think that my friend was just commenting that she thinks the thieves would probably switch out her pedals to make the bike easier to ride. I'll admit I didn't really proof read her posting.

They can be picked to a point. My friend in Philly locked his bike for 10 min came out and it was gone.He got it back a week later at the same place he lost it from the same pack of kids that stole it. He discovered if you do no turn ALL the cylinders you can unlock the U lock with almost anything or so he says.

Are you talking about Jeff? I live in the same neighborhood as him and NEVER leave my bikes outside not even with 2 mini U-locks and a cable. Philly is the bike theft capitol of the US according to Kryptonite. I'm always nervous and squirrelly when one of my bikes is locked anywhere for longer than a few minutes. This city is wearing me down.

p.s. someone stole our tree rim/tire. which is dumb, because the rim is in no way useable or worth any tangible dollar value, and i don't think the tire was that great either. also i don't appreciate people fucking with our art installations.

It is/was a rim, with a tire on it, hanging from a tree, in front of our house.

it was just there for decoration. i can't remember whose rim it was.. someone who bought a wheel from doug.. it was taco'd and doug smashed it flat and put a tire on it and put it in the tree..

another sad story, another soldier fallen...

my good friend preston was at r palate restraunt/bar less than an hour ago, and while finding his way out he found his bike got jacked.

its a matte black pista with the green logos, little beat up in the usual manner. chrome raked fork. black seatpost and saddle. flatbar with front brake. surly fixed free hubs setup fixed. it has black fenders and a chrome front rack.

to us it is a low key commuter, but still there arent too many around like this. any ideas or info would be much appreciated

the reward for the bike is a fine bottle of whiskey and i hear he'll even make out with you!!!

thanks to everyone who reads this
