see! that's what i'm saying. we need to have a picture of the person and their bike in the introduce yourself thread.
my bike is in new bike day somewhere recently.

you should put your picture in your profile

anyway i saw a dude in eugene with a shitty costco y-frame mountain bike with two u-locks.. one on each wheel. the wheels were both quick-release and so was the seat so i took it off of the wheel and turned it around completely. fucking moron. i hate eugene so much. i never see nice bikes, everyone there has shitty mountain bikes with knobby tires. don't they realize how much effort they're wasting by riding bikes with full suspension and knobby tires?

But dude. You can those bikes off sweet jumps. Sweet jumps! Mmmkay? :)

The mtn bike has become the SUV of bicycles. Sure it 'can' ride up a mountain, but c'mon chubby commuter. You aint riding more than 4 miles to work and the library.

you ever considered that maybe people riding $50 mountain bikes dont have another $50 to drop on some new tires or a new bike?

i dont see the point in making fun of someone for being too poor to have something nice..

the bike i posted may belong to someone too poor to afford a fender for all i know.. but it doesnt cost money to fix your seat angle or put your levers on straight.

Well spoken amy. Not everyone is into dropping money into their bikes. As long as it get them from point A to point B it's functional way of transportation. May not be efficient, but it gets them where they need to go. Maybe they like crooked ass levers and a slanted seat they're probably falling off of.

... either way i'd rather someone ride a $50 mtb than drive a polluting, noisy-ass piece of crap car around (assuming that's all they can afford, if they're riding a hoopty of a bike)

doesn't matter what bike some one is riding, at least they are on a bike. Isn't that what the whole "movement" is about?

I dont think its a movement with how little of the population bikes, but I do see a social trend to decrease our dependence on oil due to the increased unnecessary war and environmental impact. But oh yeah, its fun and cheap too.
