Yeah, dunno if there are other places to promote this thing... bikeportland brought in 1000 people, bikeforums brought in 500, google 150.

  1.

Speaking of which, you should put a tiny ad space in, sell it to the local shops and buy jerseys for the loyalists.

Or I can just screen print some tees, cut the sleeves, and sew in some back pockets.

haha. Either way, jerseys should be had.

  2.

    stickers stickers stickers

  3.

    cabonbased, you're a cheap date.

  4.

We could do screen-printed tees AND jerseys. that way we can cover the "Actual Rider" market who wears jerseys quite often and the "Casual (Read: fair weather pansy) Rider (Me)!"

And stickers. If the zoobombers have them, so should we. Unless we want to do a collaborative bombPDXFIXED sticker.

  5.

I can do some stencil work for it if need be! I'm not one much for screen printing but perhaps some kind of pdxfixed-citizen clothing collaboration extravaganza could be had.and i like the idea of it being super simple, just the bombPDXfixed or something across the front.

do you really think a forum of 103 people need jerseys and t shirts?

    yes.

  7.

It's like it says in the bible, "wherever there are two or more gather, shirts should be made."

i really want to keep this place ad free. i'd rather have the bike shops spend their money sponsoring events and races (like portland massacre)

a few designers have contacted me and are working on some ideas so this place should get a nice graphical makeover sometime soon.

Mind you, it's 103 members now - one week after starting. There's room for growth and the growth rate without any ads is encouraging.

I know, I was kind of just kidding. Besides, what good is free stuff if we're constantly compelled to buy things from said sponsors.

If you want any help making the new designs into Vanilla themes, I've built one before.

    word.

I like your stance on this site being add free...we all see enough add's, in are daily life. Just a page for links to other sites if you want to look, go look.

If you want to increase the roster count I suggest making this site private to register members only, ala lafixed, sffixed and etc. Those sites limit viewing to guests, which only allows them to see topics only. This should increase registration and participation, along with traffic.

  11.

but then people feel left out that just wanna lurk

the site shouldn't really be for lurkers.
i'm all for people reading up on fixed gear and bike hype, but memberz only is kewl.

the main reason i want to keep it viewable to the public is so that when people search for things like "portland fixed gear riding" in google they'll come across the site and be able to find people to ride with. if you close it off it won't get indexed very well in search engines.

160? Nice for such a little facet of Portland. I mean biking is kind of a subculture, and SS/FG specific biking is a sub-subculture I guess.

Is that registered users or included the random IPs of guests just coursing the forum?

    For the nerds:

    160 registered users
    8600 unique ip's
    100,000 page views
average user spends 23 minutes a day on the site
    50% on a mac, 50% on windows

    Wow. 50/50 mac/windows.
I wonder if it is a sign of the age group viewing or what. That is way up for mac compared to what I would have guess in previous times.

Thanks for the info. Its been interesting watching this place develop.

    Alex,
Any way we can insert ads for non-registered users?!?

It wouldn't give us a headache, and would make some money for your ticket off the lurkers.

Since when do users of a site ask someone to put ads up? :)

I don't think we should make users have to pay to not see ads, but let the lurkers see them. That way alex can make a bit of money to help with server costs, lurkers can still see the site for free, and actual users don't have to deal with ads.

I won't be there - 40 mile ride and then the Women's Track Clinic. I think there's a show at Zac's house on Saturday night though. Not sure what the story is.

I'll be at Radderday. After beating that box truck last night, I have new faith in my skills.

i think there is also something going on for Zak's b-day at the Mill house if anyone is going there Saturday night?
