I'm not some idiotic, welfare mother either.

as someone that hates stereotypes (that apply to you), it seems like you don't mind perpetuating others.

i don't mean to call you out... but wow.

cassady, my mom raised me on foodstamps and wic vouchers, and was unable to attend college until I moved out. so careful there, my mom busted ass and is certainly no idiot. It's a hard luck gut kick when you realize you need social assistance or your kid is gonna starve..anyway, I'm hoping things will be easier for you.

  5.

I don't know how much we've talked about my childhood, Doug, but I was on the Salvation Army drop list, had to get food from the food bank, my mom waited tables, and was on food stamps/WIC growing up. I probably should have worded that better, but it was what came to mind. I was actually specifically talking about the women who use their welfare checks for themselves. Most of the women I've met around GR who have kids and are on welfare or who recieve child support are that kind of person. Both applied to me out there, as did WIC and food stamps. I don't know who I'm talking about here...

Sorry. I know what it's like to grow up dirt poor.

    Max is NOW!:

    Have it.

  7.

I think I'm getting to that age when a man realizes all the awesome shit you can do with babies. Now I just need to find a host for my science project called "Max jr" (even if I do secretly want to have a daughter first)

I also have a calendar in my apartment called "Diapersaurs" which features babies dressed as some of my favorite dinos....

srsly, dinos + babies = ultimate win

  8.

There is a lot of fun stuff you can do with babies. Example: dress them up in silly costumes, play catch, teach them to swear in church(which, you know, I'd never do), watch them grow up, fear that they're gonna grow up to be just like you, teach them to read, walk, talk, etc. They're just pretty sweet in general.

    Max is NOW!:

Agreed. I have to see this calendar.

  9.

    So they're like parrots?

    Really cute parrots?

  10.

Kind of. But, they can learn more than 200 words, if you're doing your job. Also, babies aren't feathery.

By play catch, I meant throwing the baby from one person to another. They love that shit.

Oh, I did this once. But the mother got really upset. I told her not to leave babies lying around.

  12.

What? Babies aren't faberge eggs, they need to get bumps and scratches and bruises. Sometimes stiches or casts when they're older.

Also, they really, really like to get thrown up & down to between people, dropped onto beds, spun around by their hand/feet, et cetera. Babies are awesome.

  13.

Any ladies need a parttime job?
    I need some test subjects.

  14.

I need a full time job, sorry.

  15.

    What if I include dental?

  16.

Maybe, MAYBE. I do need to get my wisdom teeth pulled...

  17.

Oh, my plan definitely involves teeth coming out.

  18.

Hahaha, I just thought of "strawberry shortcake" 'cause I'm like 12.

I've learned to love a lot of things, but I don't know how well I'd react to semen and blood coming out of my nose.

Also, I has 2 babies. They are radical. One of them grabs his wiener all the time and says "Bike! Bike!" and the other one pushes the furniture around the house and is perpetually hungry.

    Both cute.

  21.

Where are the dead baby jokes?!

Or would that be a little too tacky?

We'll start with a tame one. (no clowns OR sex)

How do you make a dead baby float?

Two scoops of ice cream, one scoop of dead baby.

    SICKSICKSICK

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/2305096/Women-to-give-birth-at-100-within-three-decades.html

Hello, Brave New World. I am paranoid.

    ewww what's even the point

why would you WANT to give birth at 100? I wanna have my first baby by 35, can you imagine being 50 and having to take your kids to kindergarten? or being 70 or 80 by the time grandkid #1 comes along? I mean goddamn my folks are already in their 50s. I recently got to that place in life where you don't see your parents very often, and when you do, they look OLD. I want them to still have a little pep in them to roughhouse with the kiddies, you know?

so yeah I really fucking love babies, I hope I get a sweet nannying job soon so I can get paid to play with them ALL DAY

  25.

My parents are only in their 40s. I want to have any children I might have other than Connor before I turn 35. Also, the maximum number I wanna have is 3. Hello sterilization after that! Not to mention, I'll probably be a Grandma before I'm 45... That's kind of a scary thought, yeah?

I don't know why someone would ever want to do that. My friend Dave's parents adopted him when they were almost 50, he's 21 now and they're almost 70. Dave probably won't have kids for at least another decade, if not more. NOTHANKYOUNOTHANKYOUNOTHANKYOU.

I hope you do too! Then, we can take kids to the zoo, park, museums, etc.

    mike:

Yep, like out. It will be really cool. I can't wait to meet him.

Congrats! Enjoy the time that's he's tiny and doesn't make much sound, it goes too quickly.

  26.

amy and i have discussed kids and decided taking care of one (me) is hard enough..

  27.

So...this thread had been all over the place but here are mine. Super cute and they love to ride (Today the 2 1/2 year old rode over 2 miles to the library and back--with training wheels). We're open to a play date some time.

  28.

    Your pictures didn't show up.

It will be mid august when mine moves out here at the earliest.

  29.

Thanks. I couldn't remember how to do that but it's fixed now. Whenever he gets here is cool. We'll be around.

  30.

Either of you ever need a sitter?
I have references and about 7 years working with kids age "baby" to "angry teen".

I actually miss working with kids. They're a bit more fun than half my friends. And we just talk about dinosaurs, timetravel, or comic books if we run out of stuff to do. (All of which I'm a pro)

  31.

    SO CUTE!!!!

Awesome. I will definitely let you know when he's here, and we can set something up if you're still open then.
