wow what a tank!
The old ones are tiiiite.
My dad offered to buy me one of these. Worth it?
a new one? hahahahah so ugly
My eyes... they're... BLEEDING!

those blue/chrome ones are fuckin atrocious
same fork as the bareknuckle
bschultz:The old ones are tiiiite.
The old ones were made out of Columbus Tenax tubing which was SP (used in entry level and touring frames) with cosmetic blems. From all I've heard and the one Madison I rode, they are heavy and sluggish. Though they look good, especially compared to the new ones.
Yeah, I was just going by aesthetics... never had the opportunity to ride one.
vDECKERv:a new one? hahahahah so ugly
A couple of years older. But, the thing is, if I don't take him up on the offer, he'll just send me the money he would have spent on that for whatever bike I want.
Probably the latter is a better idea, yes?
All the mass produced steel track bikes these days are pretty damn similar minus a few variables here and there, paint and decals being two...
But yeah, the old Madisons look cool. Wouldn't go the complete bike route for a Madison though...
the parts seem similar to the khs/windsor/mercier , alex rims, truvative touro cranks so where the weight coming from? he said stock it hangar scaled at 22 lbs but he had steel 123's and weinmanns wow what a slug.
22 is heavy if I plan on running it on the track.
Also, Jrrmeee, my daddy would hook me up with cheap, cheap, cheap Velocity anything ('cause you know they're originally from MI, right?), also, he gets 99% of components at cost, so I could customize it pretty much however I wanted, and he would pay for it. Word, word, word.
velocity is from australia.
get a aluminum track bike if its gonna be for the track. or a tesch.
yung jeezy pdx:velocity is from australia.
They grew up in GR, though. They aren't actually FROM Asutralia.
From their website:
"Velocity Bicycle Accessories originated in Brisbane Australia over 16 years ago with the introduction of our adjustable water bottle cage; the Velocage. Since that time we have expanded our offerings to include rims, wheels and other cycling accessories for nearly every style and size of bike imaginable."
honestly, Michigan, Australia...It's all really pretty similar. on the same planet right? close enough...
zelah:same fork as the bareknuckle
you shut your mouth.
I know the company started in Austrailia. I'm not debating that. What I'm saying is that the company is essentially one of two brothers who moved from Grand Rapids to Australia.
when i have called up velocity both times, 1. for the mash alleycat and 2. for the zak alleycat the other day the number i've called is michigan, and when i ask him what they have in stock, he runs and checks...hopefully not all the way to australia cause my damn phone bill would be outrageous. But they do in fact come from michigan, I'll take a picture of the shipping label when i get the package this week
the australia one handles one portion of the world and the us handles another?
manufactured in austrailia. strong currency against the asian moneys, cheap labor from formosa/taiwan and skilled tech workers from japan and britain. toss in the fact that %95 of the worlds bauxite ore is found near the equator or south of it (them islands above austrailia) and the huge amounts of hydroelectic power need to smelt it into aluminum, and austrailia is looking like THE best place to make rims.
