My new Miche hubs come with one piece track nuts that don't have spinning washers. Why do they do this? Do you think my track ends will get damaged?
Because they are French and they make their own standards…
They may scratch it up your track ends a bit more. If the threads are a normal pitch you could probably get some other track nuts cheap.
They are actually Italian. Anyway, I have other track nuts but I am just wondering why the hell they do this. Can't be cost savings because these look fancier than my Velocity/Formula track nuts.
Your fine. The main thing that annoys me about those nuts is that theyre 14mm.
i've never heard of any disadvantage beyond scratching your track ends more. this, over time, of course, is bad. since you have other nuts, good, if you didn't, i'd figure you're fine for a bit, i've used those till i could afford other nuts.
The thread pitch is different on the axles, so make sure the nuts you have fit properly....
Legalize It:Nut fit is important…
True dat.
Where did you buy them? I have two Miche hubsets built up and sold three more, all had the same track nut w/ captive washer.

captive washer? I got it from nathan at metropolitan bikes at the bicycling hub store.
track nuts on my (new in box) miche hubs are awesome and normal and someone should buy them
MIN:captive washer?
Technical name for a washer that spins but does not seperate from a nut/bolt/etc. They take 10x1 rear and 9x1 front track nuts like Shimano, Formula, etc etc, not the 9x26/10x26 like Campagnolo.
I thought if you had mail ordered them the seller might have cheaped out and sold the real track nuts separately and put some cheap replacements on your set. I wonder who their distributor is? Maybe they are swapping them out before selling them?
