Calfee built that bike, you saw it at NAHBS yeah? Real ass bullhorns, bamboo cruiser.s

Wooden rims are the jam, but the problem is if they fail you don't have a taco'd rim, you have a death-inducing mass of splinters... anti-tarck at it's finest.

    zelah:

That's a terrific question. The answer depends on your definition of "eco" or "the environment". If you're referring to the shallow (popular) definition that merely deals with the biophysical facet of an issue, then they're probably no so "eco" given resource extraction, the industrial process, and whatnot. However, if you're using the true definition, the definition that is mindful of the complex interrelationships between the social, political, economic, and biophysical realms, then maybe they're not so bad, but I couldn't tell you for sure. It would be difficult and time-consuming to determine the true "eco-ness" of leather versus synthetic, but at least the results would be meaningful; whereas, if you were to compare the "eco-ness" of leather versus synthetic based on the shallow (first) definition, it would be rather simple, but the results wouldn't mean much. In an effort to tie this all in to the bike, I think it is irresponsible for Element to call this an "Ecollaboration" when they aren't even mindful of the true meaning of the "eco" or "the environment".

Eco = Business? I felt that people abuse the term eco.

Word, Kevin; that's the essence of greenwashing right there- outwardly environmentally-conscientious acts with a greater, underlying purpose of profit increase (Wikipedia).

Eco could be business. Like economy.

People are really jumping on the whole environmental ecological bandwagon without really looking at the bigger picture..

Yes, but economics basically means the management of the house. Focusing solely on business and ignoring, as you put it, the bigger picture, in terms of management, is irresponsible economics.
