stumptown:If there was a thread for posting new bikes, it'd get bumped like once, maybe twice a month with something new. This ain't Bike Forums...
True its not like my house wheni use to have everyones old bike/my new bike there being stripped down and then built up for a new rider.
A: You need to get a bigger rear cog, your Surly almost has as many teeth as my pet shark.
B: Get one o dem chunky BMX half link chains, like mine. HED3 + beefy chain + disk on the track make for one intimidating sound when your behind another racer. All they hear is that whoosh woosh woosh.
C: Nada else.

Haha, thanks for the tips. I think that 49/20 is fine for street use, but for the track I'm rocking 48/15. Anyway, I traded cogs with Doug because I wasn't into running 49/16 for more than about a day. I got a new chain at River City yesterday(where Walton almost had me convinced that I should put a gold NJS chain on this bike), I'll be throwing that on there later.
if your chain ain't gold OR njs you need to just walk
tepr:im like a goddamn cheetah, postin my shit at 60mph SEE YOU ON THE 'DROME
Bahahaha.
zelah:if your chain ain't gold OR njs you need to just walk
Damnit. Whatever, my pants are too tight to ride a bike anyways.
zelah:if your chain ain't gold OR njs you need to just walk
you know I just have to walk anyways, i have my seat so high and my bars so low for looks
ya know how I'm all about aesthetics...not calesthenics

can we not post updates like this in the "introduce yourself" sticky? that might be nice too so that we can keep the face/bike association fresh, new bikes are kinda like new friends, na mean
Considering people build up new bikes very rarely, I see no issue with dedicating a thread to your own new bike, especially since most of us are all good friends. No one had any issue with Jerome doing it, so I intend on (slash already did it) doing it, too.
In fact, I intend on building up 38 new bikes next week and posting a separate thread for each one. Just giving everyone a heads up! I can just sense the anticipation!
Yeah, for real. I just don't see why it's an issue to make a new thread about a new bike. No one is switching out their ride on the regular here.
congrats. it looks great ill be looking for it on the street
i can't believe people are tripping about a personal bike thread when we have a jeezy appreciation thread.
btw, i see the pix now. good work, chica.
vneck:congrats. it looks great ill be looking for it on the street
Thank you! I'm usually downtown, say hi if you see me.

Haha, thanks MIN. Appreciate it!
krystenr:Aw, thanks. It's a little heavy for a track bike...but it's also really strong/durable. I'm very pleased with how it turned out. It took fucking forever, cost me an insane amount of money in the end, and is nothing like I originally envisioned it...but I'm totally into it.
annihilation time happened today.

i agree it's not like BF to where you have a crap load of people constantly posting, this is small enough to where we can post threads about new bikes, if one thread or two a month is gonna kill you sorry. but people have a right to show of their new whip.
My new whip is lookin' pretty sick!

ok, but only if i can have one of those 38.
or... actually six. i will require six. all with kickstands.
also: you went by citybikes when doug was working on me on monday and it was looking good. i dumbly wondered why you had a silver rear hub... then went home and realized that a cog is "THAT GO", to quote the scraper bike video on youtube.
i seriously took out her rear wheel today. like snapped a good 1/3rd of her spokes.
not on purpose by any means, she ran into me.
but baby grrl we'll get this fixxx'd
here's the proof.

Hotdamn!
ouch, you girls ok?
Wait is the rim ok? haha
O, JEEBUS!
DANG
yeah take a close look at the rim because if that many spokes broke you could have damaged the rim too. man krysten is having bad luck, first the track crash, then the head crash, now this. how'd it happen?
hey atleast the spoke card stayed in...
damn, that looks rugged.
no rim is fucked it's bent and buckled in at one point.
i can actually barely move my neck right now it kinda sucks.
i was planning on riding out to the track, but i don't think that's going to be possible.
That was short life span. Sorry girls.
thats why i dont fuck around with handbuilt wheels, machines bitches!
so all in all don't run into my bike it will eat your shit alive.
aerospokes dont fuck around.
xxplosive.
I'm an idiot.
I apparently enjoy ruining fucking ridiculously expensive wheels.
Jenn and I both banged our heads pretty hard.
I'm making a decision to always wear my helmet from now on. And yeah, I'm having seriously shitty luck. The rim is fucked and I'm broke as hell. Toast, I'm rocking a friend's silver deep v laced to an IRO in the meantime, so that's the rear wheel that you saw.
Ugh. I'm so bummed.
Oh and Jeremy - the spoke card comment gave me a good laugh. That's actually the piece of paper Veloshop puts in the spokes with my name and stuff on it.
aww don't be too bummed, i hear you have a sweet mixte.
and i did get to see the purpleness in its full and short-lived splendor. i'll tell my grandkids one day....
toa3t:aww don't be too bummed, i hear you have a sweet mixte.

Ha the mixte can't exactly be ridden on the track. But like I said, I'm borrowing a rear wheel from Justin in the meantime. Should have a new wheel built up in about two weeks (the hub came out of the crash fine).
krystenr:I'm making a decision to always wear my helmet from now on.
wait what?
So how'd this happen??
Don't worry about it.
Oh wow. Im sorry to hear about this.
Well at least youll get over over any scratches on your bike real quick.
At least you didnt kill a carbon frame and disc wheel. Its a bad week for bikes. =(
damn that bikes lookin icy
on ice maybe, waiting for surgery. blasted nipples!
oh hell, that sucks. sorry.
