I been reading about these bikes and damn they came new with Sugino 75's and the pulse models came with dura-ache tracks!!!
plus some araya V-section 36 spoke track clinchers to Superbe lo-flange hubs. Nitto 123AA and nitto stem.
If I could get a set of the OG rims I'd be down to restore it almost. Too bad someone walton-ized the paint, as the paint on the ones I've seen have held up well. I'm hella down with the light blue metallic ones reminicient of the cannondale metallic blue.
This will probably be one of my Craigslist specials. Toss on a wheelset and some parts I have laying round...$425 and it's yours
dude was asking three hundo for that black one the same size one with the top tube death ding on CL awhile ago. that the ad was gone after 2-3days makes me think he got his money.
also just found a loose ball campy record bottom bracket in the free box
K_phomma:
Damn it must be your day.
I just paid $350 for a blue one ('parently was a special-order color only) with a BB and headset (and fork, for that matter). I'm jealous on the price, but I just picked up some almost new Sugino 75s with a chainring for $95 so I feel a bit better.
Oh and if this is any indicator: http://cgi.ebay.com/GT-GTB-Track-Frame-Fork-pista-fixed-gear-MUST-SEE_W0QQitemZ190231189801QQihZ009QQcategoryZ159089QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem you should make out like a bandit with a CL special.
Sweet frame.
Maybe itd be a cool wrench night type thing to get all the parts together and do a proper build of it. Id like to see the process of building up a wheelset and all that.
I love those frames, nice pikcup.
If that thing was like two cm bigger, I'd be at your house giving you money right now.
Nice fuckin score man.
damn 50 bucks, my size, one of my dream frames, ready to be painted. i wish i had your luck. i would have easily payed double what you payed maybe triple! theres something about the triple triangle that just gets me there.........
doug life!
Or you could be a pimp and hook a brotha up. Then y'all could school my ass in some allycat action
Kevin, I've always been curious as to how potential crossovers like you would do in alleycats. On one hand, you'd kill everyone in a sprint, but on the other hand, you'd have to learn to get really ballsy in traffic or risk working a lot harder than other people, as well as have a really good idea of making efficient routes in the city. It'd be cool to see, for sure.
Oh yeah, and word is that frame doesn't fit Doug...
The frame is actually my ideal size (th tesch is a 55.5) I hoestly do think y'all would OWN me, consitering A)I dont know downtown all that well and B)you folk are used to the smaller gears. So unless I ran my 92".....
I'm thinking make this the loaner bike and sell the medici to cover my expenses for buying legit parts for it.
and thor, don't cha know spinning is winning?!!???!!
68 gear inch development 4 evrz
white folks:I'm thinking make this the loaner bike and sell the medici to cover my expenses for buying legit parts for it.
Any ballpark on the price of the Medici?
white folks:and thor, don't cha know spinning is winning?!!???!!

For THOR, 92 inches is a spin gear... watch the RPMs dude's pushing at the track haha.
But yeah, street and track are totally different breeds and anyone trying to run 92 inches in an alleycat would be crying the first time they had to climb a Tabor checkpoint...
i was thinking about riding an 88" at tabor
I do hill training on 87" up 5-13% grades from track standing in the middle of the incline. Wouldn't think about trying to race on that though...
thats sick doug!
Walton what were you running for the last few weeks? I ran it with 75 last time, and in the final bit I felt like I could not stand due to the high RPMs (or maybe I was just really fatigued). I want to switch to a 16t for about 80", but dont have a cog.
jeez ben, if you need a 16 to help you race all you gotta do is ask. i will come up with a 16 before weds if thats what you need. 80" though wow. Can you push 80 inches and still pull the pack up the hill? maybe just a ring swap for a few more inches...whisper me. we'll come up with whatever you need by race day.
bschultz:white folks:I'm thinking make this the loaner bike and sell the medici to cover my expenses for buying legit parts for it.

first I'd have to ok it with all the donors, basically jerome and ryan.
But as it sits (upgraded rear wheel is a cxp33 3 crossed to an IRO hi flange) I'd ask bout four bills. more for craigslist, and I'd chop $$ off for parts I'd need for the GTB. $275 without wheels. that kinda thing. I'm open to anything.
basically no-one has used the loaner except when we're in a hurry and someone has a flat. jonah used it once. I used it once. everyone else who wanted to borrow it for an extended time has flaked out.
I thought the loaner bike was a good idea, and the add-a-part/make-it-nicer rule was a good one but I guess I'm just outta touch
thing that hurts most is it's a sick ass bike, it rides so nice. not like a clanky conversion but a tight geometry street whip.
oh and as far as the GTB goes i'd like it to go to the person who:
#1 fits it right. 5'10" to a stocky six foot. But you know your size bike better than me.
#2 has wanted a GTB for awhile and is gonna ride the fuck outta it.
I'm gonna put it together so my GF and other people can try it out ..dunno make an offer i can't refuse. like some phils or a disc or a tri or aerospoke :)
Damn... I want this bike but I don't have the money right now. The rental bikes at Alpenrose are the GTB's with the Sugino 75's. Great bikes. I've been riding the 54 seat tube ones though and they fit pretty well.
kinda hrd to get a good ST measurement, the top tube has a reverse slope, ala TT bike style
gt fixed. hmm I have Sugino 75 on my zaskar, good cranks nice frame
grimm:Walton what were you running for the last few weeks? I ran it with 75 last time, and in the final bit I felt like I could not stand due to the high RPMs (or maybe I was just really fatigued). I want to switch to a 16t for about 80", but dont have a cog.
I have a 16t cog you can borrow. Or I'll sell it to you.
Doug, sorry for flaking out on having my roommate borrow the bike. Since my accident, she's just been trekking around with me on foot/via bus. Once I'm back to riding if she doesn't have her bike yet, I'll give you a ring.
I really like the idea of a loaner bike, but if no one uses it, then by all means...
Maybe you sell it and throw a fat pdxfixed party with the profit! Haha.
doug. i hate you.
humancongereel:doug. i hate you.
don't hate the player
hate the game
it's official. I will not be getting an errospok in trade for this GTB frame. i will not be selling it and buying my black anod'd phil lo-flange fix-fix rear hub.
Why?
because on a whim and out of boredom I built it up with my GF's wheels/cranks and fork. Just for shits n giggles, just for fun. just to what she thinks of aluminum bikes.
guess what?
She loves it. It fits her like a custom track bike would. She loves all the right things about it. she likes the super stiff power transfer, the whip crack handling, the really high true track style bottom bracket. and since it was technically her money, it does belong to her.
so, when you see her riding and smiling, cry a little for me and the cool parts I coulda shoulda woulda had...sniff sniff whimper cry...
how much for the kilo tt?
really I'm just joking ...any decent boyfriend wants his GF to be riding the bike of her dreams, and while this GTB may not be Amy's "dream bike" she likes it and thats all that matter to me...the smile on her face.
NNNNNOOOOOO!!!!!! haha but thats good that she likes it. i guess im just going to have to find a new frame to crush on.
haha look at jeezy jumping on amy's tt without wasting a minute and disregarding the fact that it would never fit him
build pics!
also i dunno if you saw on velospace, but you were right about the build components...they came stock with suzue jr.'s (which are totally solid hubs despite internet herd opinion) to araya adx-510's, sugino 75s to shimano bb, and no-name other stuff including some really huge track drops
the kilo is a 53, right? now that my trek is feeling like a million bucks again (minus a tearing saddle cover and lifeless br tape), i'm once again meaning to get around to getting a fixed. so, i'll follow these developments closely.
But yea - i want to see the GT too.
Toastyyy, just get some new bar tape. The saddle ain't the end of the world.
krystenr:haha look at jeezy jumping on amy's tt without wasting a minute and disregarding the fact that it would never fit him
yeah right! my pakes a 53
Let's still get down with arr0spok back hub to front convertskis...I got you on the sparks son son.
then i can buy that shits!
This time I tried.. like twenty times. And every time I flip it horizontally and save it.. or save as.. again and again.. or try iPhoto and all kinds of other crap.. as soon as I save it, it reverts back to being backwards again. WTF?
So here's a backwards pic

looks dope!
white folks:
Pretty awesome looking. Bars are questionable.
throw on some risers!
Really unflattering angle... it looked better in person when I scoped it out just now. Put the laptop on a table then take the pic and it'll look better, bikes always look better as you're looking down at them.
But yeah it's sick. Can't wait to see what Amy decides to do for a paint/anodizing job. Broker Enterprises on 38th/Powell does really nice sparkle jobs for colors, they did my pearl white Aeroheads for me and my buddy's black/silver sparkle Pista that came out super nice.
Ditch that bandanna though foo!!
