Things I learned last night about Thurston Moore:
1) His Macbook background is Kim Gordon wearing a visor and having coffee with Sun Ra
2) He keeps his financial information in one Excel spreadsheet on his desktop
3) He keeps special, possibly risque stuff that he doesn't want you to see in another Excel sheet called "David Bowie videos.xls"
4) He moved to New York to be part of the scene, just like every asshole in (Colonial) Williamsburg trying too hard right now.
5) He didn't like No Wave at first, but he kept driving his white VW beetle down to the East Village from Connecticut until he did.
6) Coco is not the name of his dog.
Also, he and Byron Cole told a funny story about two girls who started an imaginary band called Cardiac Arrest that got hyped in NME, despite not actually existing. I want to do the same thing with my new imaginary band, Crotch Rip! and their new hit single, "Prince Charles, I'm Gonna Eat You Out." They're too cool for anything you've heard of. Spread the word.

Nah, he's traveling around the country to promote his mid-life career as an art historian. At the stops he's showing photos and videos off his Macbook and those were the most ridiculous things I remember happening. I personally find it fascinating that he hides his porn in a file named "David Bowie videos."
EDIT: I mean, I don't know that it's porn, but when somebody asked to see some David Bowie videos he started giggling and said, "Uh, those are things I don't want you to see."
why is sebadoh so good

holy shit, my mind is blown. i saw kid congo powers tonight in d.c. and it was like if you took the birthday party, merged them with los lobos, and installed fred schneider on lead vocals. i can't even really describe, it was like gay latin goth space blues or something. ian svenonius and benjy ferree came on for a song to add guitar flourishes, sound effects, and unwashed odors. we should have known something was up when he started making sweet pelvic love to his guitar and started yelling "como se llama... mama!" in this dead-on fred schneider chirp.
there were a bunch of gun club covers and we were like, this is a really great gun club cover band. turns out that he helped found the gun club before becoming a member of the cramps and later nick cave and the bad seeds. it was the best thing i've ever seen at fort reno - i feel like i've been touched by rnr royalty. he said his album's coming out next winter, i need it.
