I saw them (that is to say i seen them) in philly, very rad. They're getting Coldplay type of big, I was getting bumped into by frat guys in Abercrombie polos on one side and 12 year old girls on the other side.

I got the 9-min Never Be Alone mix going right now. Fucking great.

NO, Stephin Meritt does such an amazing job evoking despair. I love the Moz probably more than anyone but sometimes he errs too far in the direction of an artistic construct. Also his misery seems to border on vanity - he's like that kid that threatens suicide for attention but everyone knows he won't actually do it. Morrissey has never managed to make an album as consistently evocative, lyrical, and heartbreaking as The Wayward Bus.

    100,000 Fireflies is beautiful.

i will totally give you the vanity comment, i think i actually enjoy morrissey so much because his songs and emotions dont seem to be stripped down or even "spell checked" like hes saying all the things you feel, but if you were writing the song might cull out some of the more rediculous things. its just pure sulk but with tantalizing music.

part of his charm for me, too, is this character that he's playing - listening to morrissey be morrissey is always fascinating and engrossing. it's performance art at its best, and I dig the tunes. magnetic fields are so trill though, morrissey does not have the same range or ambition that merritt's got, which is why I reckon he takes the cake

and the unparalleled honor of being my #1 go-to-artist for breakups AND for falling in love

    Discharge - Why

  16.

i've been following this morrissey discussion, and i have a lot to say. 1) johnny marr. the greatest. nobody beats morrissey AND marr. 2) stephen merritt is too pretentious, like when he spells his name stephin and names his website "stephinsongs." i like that morrissey started out as the president of a music fan club. 3) having the new york dolls as your principal influence is way cooler than liking show tunes. 4) anita, do you want to hang out and sing morrissey karaoke? because i do.
