So I want to attempt the fixed category at the Mt. Tabor Series this year (it starts June 4th). To that end I'm planning on doing a few laps at a fast pace on Tuesday. You should come if you're planning on doing this. We can get to know the route and plot out devious race tactics.
Yeah, I was gonna head up there a couple times this next week to get to know the course. Tuesday may be slammed at work for me, so count me as tentative in case i cant get out before then. Wednesday may be good too since on Weds the park will be closed to cars and the gates will be open along the reservoir.
i'll try and wake up and get over being sick...
Oh, I meant 6pm, FYI. We can meet at the top by the benches... If there's more interest on Wednesday I could do that too. If both of you come out that would be sweet since my entire race strategy will be to hang onto one of your wheels until puking. :)
i just saw the "p" so i can probably make it
Yeah, I know you meant 6pm. I sometimes work some long hours if deadlines are looming.
I like your strategy. Im predicting an early break the first week. It of course depends on the field that shows up, but I think some people may show up under or over geared.
Im gonna bring my tools and a couple cog sizes when I practice this week and run a couple laps at race pace to see what feels right. Im thinking 48/17 will be what I will use.
walton:i just saw the "p" so i can probably make it
The "p"? Did you do a piss test and find out youre pregnant? OMG Walton's gonna have a baby! ;)
Lol. No really, I dont get what the "p" is.

grimm -- I'm planning on using 42/15 so we would be about the same. Supposedly the guy who won a few of the races last year was geared at 42/18 but that seems really small to me... A few people I know will be doing in at 65 inches or so just as a warm up for the cat-3 race.
kind of sucks you can't use bullhorns. they are a little dangerous in mass starts, but with plugged bar ends, not that bad... so you guys are planning on using drops or what?
I have a road-style bike so drops and hoods
sounds perfect.
except for the fact it's not track legal....
yeah, but you're not racing on a track for this.
road drops and brake hoods may look out of place on a fix, but on everything outside of the track they're the most versatile option, with bullhorns as a runner up.
tuesday as in tomorrow? cause if so i ll come.
I forgot about PIR... i'm torn
Could you guys all make it out on Wednesday? It would be better since it's closed to cars anyway.
Actually let's just do it on Wednesday, a few other people I know want to go but can't because of PIR
I'd go but I'll be at the track dev class on Wednesday. Let me know if you a different day next week or something.
I might head up there both days after work, if I get off before dark.
i'll be a little late but there did people go out there today?
I was tempted to go up there yesterday, but then I opted to go to a friends bday party and drink beer. =X
I didn't get up yesterday but I'll be there today a bit after 6 (even if it is raining). I'm probably going to do a few slow laps with the goal of doing 20-30 minutes at a racing pace. Let me know if you're coming up and I'll look out for you otherwise I'll be the guy on the green bike with silver fenders and my girlfriend (kristin) will be up there in a portland velo kit.
Im sure it wont be hard to find people, but I plan on coming up and waiting in the covered picnic area across from the bball court and kids play area. Since I think the race starts from right there (thats where the Mt Hood Classic started). Im stoked, want to do some fast laps around tabor.
I plan on having a backpack with gear, so hopefully other people do too and we can trade off watching each others stuff.
If its not wet maybe we can have a mock ghettodrome race while we are all up there.
i think i ll come up to this, does someone want to hit me up with a number so i can meet up with everyone?
grimm - i'll meet you at the table around 6 or a bit after.
jonah - i left my phone at home, sorry.
Thanks for coming up guys. I really needed to hit that hill a few times, I totally felt like dying after 2 laps.
Too bad I blew it the very end on that switchback and hit the pavement. Im good though, little scraped up and a little less skin on my elbow.
If I am feeling uppity and the weather doesnt suck I may go ride some laps at tabor or somewhere similar tomorrow.
Probably need to hit that hill a couple more times. But between FTF, radderday then going up Larch Mtn on Sun I wont have much time before next week and then training wont be helping me much help (at least the first week).
Yeah that was fun, I can't wait till the race. Sucks that you fell, Kristin almost fell in the same place, I guess there was a patch of moss right there.
Jonah called me from the top of Tabor but had shitty service and I couldn't understand what he was saying. Sounded like you guys had a good time though. I want to get up there soon.
