So the Kilo TT is supposed to take a 27.0 seat post. I just picked up a middle of the road used seat post from ccc. 27.0. too big. Anyone else out there have seat post fit issues with their Kilo TT? Using 26.8's perhaps?

  1.

    talk to krystenr

i mean, the post is stamped 27.0, but i do have my trusty digital calipers right here... and it reads 26.98.

sometimes on the cheaper steel bikes, they will substitute tube sizes in fabrication, used to happen a lot on pake framesets, so just go to your LBS and they have a metal gauge that will tell you exactly what seatpost size you need, since there re about 12 (or more) standard sizes, in increments of .2 mm.

  3.

    hmmm

    bad frame maybe.

grease it and then just start shoving it in, smack it a few times and it should loosen up

yeah I am having a seat post issue. i think its the frame, my post measures 27.0 on the money and it's like finger banging an year old trying to get this post in there..

I had to get mine milled out today for it to fit (I think that's the right term). City Bikes got the cups in there for me and said it'd only be like $5 (i'm picking the bike up tomorrow).

I just bought a 26.8 seat post today. works out better, as this one's way nicer. I think I got all the temp parts, and can ride it tomorrow, until all the nice stuff comes in the mail next week.

hey are you building you bike or are you having someone do it? i should have all my parts together end of this week if you wanna do a build jam. i think "freebird" might be helpin me out, but i really want to be involved with the labor and stuff so should be fun.

we got Amy's TT together yesterday and its super sweet. Turned out nice, used a 68x113 shimano BB and the chainline is money. I did have to cut down the seat post 3" to get to the proper insertion depth.

Other than Amy not being used to toe overlap all went well.

Nice to see you all out yesterday

Holler at me if you wanna ride or drink today.

Good to see you yesterday, too! I'm a little worried about the toe overlap on mine, to be honest. I've ridden Alex's TT enough to know that it annoys the shit out of me.

I'm definitely down for bike rides and drinks. When/where you thinking?

50cms have a crazy amount of overlap, you just train your body to know what's up when turning slow.

and yeah zac, your bike looks great

ha - the listing had no mention of size, which probably explained the lack of competition. even when i asked him the first time, the seller gave me the rim dimensions (something millimeters by somethign millimeters) but not the actual size. only with a few hours to go did the auction say anything about being a 700c.

i actually saw a video of a dude doing a trackbike tailwhip

  10.

link? i'd go nuts if i saw that.

and by the way, the 26.8 post is good but the kilo needs a 30.0 clamp so don't forget that either.

COMING TUESDAY COMING TUESDAY COMING TUESDAY

    i'm a little excited.

haha yesterday i noticed the 50cm was out of stock - good thing i got it in time. then i go check again today, no sizes left in between 47 and 60 - jeez. i need to add some sweet streamers and a bell or something to make mine stand out from the others.

(of course, i've only seen one two other kilos in "real life" ever, one after a concert in philly and the other was amy's, but still. gotta impress the internets)
