wtf 25? Their target market cannot only 25-35 year olds.

yeah it is, they're shooting for commuters obviously, adult types with real jobs all being assholes

    'splain please

well portland loves commuters, and trek loves portland, and the trek portland is the ultimate commuter. 25-35 year olds are the kids driving to work but who totally should be riding, and this ad will show them how cool they could be. Any younger is too poor/hip NOT to ride and any older is just crippled.

i'm betting they're gonna do this on burnside, it gets backed up enough and to where weaving and shooting is possible. it would be funny if someone is getting their spot shot, and a bunch of us come bombing down hhaha

Haha, I agree. We really need to bomb this thing, it just sounds like too much fun not to.

meh, i went to the trek thing this morning and walked out. there was a script involved which was a deal-breaker. they wanted you to say your name, why you bike, how many miles per day, what kind of bikes you own, blah blah. and then you're supposed to hang out with a bunch of your mtn. biking bros and act like you're all buddies and into mtn. biking.....i couldn't do it. no offense to the other folks there, but everyone was tan and fit, wearing jerseys and like ready to shred the gnar or some shit like that. no thanks, give the $500 to them.

Well I went, and here are my thoughts:

The second I walked through the door the receptionist asked if I have any visible tattoos. I am probably one of the only ex-messengers who does not. Everybody else that set foot inside the casting office were spandorks with full team kits. The moment before I actually auditioned a lady came out and said :

"Just so people know what we are expecting- We are looking for the crazy messenger style riding zig zagging in and out of traffic". I mentioned that was exactly what I did 40 hours a week, and they said I should make sure to include it in my "interview". I gave my brief bio speech, and then they had me ride my keirin bike on a trainer facing the camera. All in all the audition itself took 5 minutes.

And $500 is $500. If I can get that for doing what I used to get for working my ass of a courier for $9.50 an hour, sign me up.

We will see, the fact they called it the "commuter" portion made me smile.

How many commuters would split lanes or run lights, etc.

yeah that, and do you really want to convince potential bike commuters that splitting lanes and running lights is okay? is trek trying to sell bikes, or kill people?

I am truly curious what they are going to use the footage to sell. Helmets? Trek is not exactly a huge brand in the track/messenger/urban scene.

    Maybe that's just it.
If I were a major bike manufacturer I would be targeting them.

Shit load of money to be made in the major metro areas.

  8.

    Think about a fixed-gear Trek/Target bike.
