I have been doing a Fixed ride the first Sunday of each month. Starting at waterfront. Glad to see a site to unite all different type of riders.
So if you like to crank out some miles, come check out this ride.... Different route each month.
I've posted on Bikeportland.org and FGG. Come check it out.
April 6th @ the Waterfront fountain. 10am Roll out @ 10:15
Where to?.....Destanation unkonown. Any ideas? Sauvies Island? Tabor and Rocky Bute? Ride up to Alpenrose, check out the Velodrome?
Out Marine Drve to Troutdale? I'm flexible, just want to ride.
Would like to do atleast 30-40 miles.
I will be doing this ride the 1st Sunday of each month.
FIXEDGEAR worship...........Come ride and check out other riders!!
This is a un-organized ride.
If you wear a helmet fine, if you dont thats fine also.
Ride safe and have a good time.
this ride is rad, I did it once am gonna do it again, once the new bike is done. I highly recommend it! more people need to come out.
Great, I will definitely be there for this.
sounds awesome, i'll be there.
there was only four of us but once it gets going and gets nice out, it'll be rad to get a good core group going
went last month. was fast and fun.
Well the last ride was all flat....Springwater out to Boaring(The end)
Kinda feeling like some hills? Tabor, Rocky Bute? A little bit of both Up to Alpenrose isn't to bad? (I'm kinda wacked though haha)
Hills or Flat? Comments welcome.
what time on sundays?
10 am @ the salmon street fountain on the waterfront
i like cross town urban riding. the group could ride through all parts of town hitting downtown, suburbs, bridges and industrial areas as a group might be fun. you wont get the miles in as fast, but you might discover new kool things in portland?
Sounds good, I can always hit Mt Tabor on the way home.
Hey Brian, I have to help a buddy move today. Might beable to sneek out before dark and do a quick ride up Tabor, if your up to it let me know on hear, or I'll call you later this afternoon.
sounds rad, i'll try and make it next week
i did it this morning actually. trying to get myself more ready for riding with ya'll
A long fixed ride the day after the De Ronde? We'll see how toasted my legs are.
I just rode Spring Water Corridor to Hogan/242nd to Marine Dr then back down Interstate to the Esplanade yesterday. It was fun, would be very doable fixed because there was a lack of hills. It had to be around 30+ miles. Though the stop signs along SWC can kind of suck.
Ok, I think I worked up a ok route.
Waterfront, up thru downtown to NW....Montgomery Park....Hwy 30..to the St. Johns bridge....head up to the Expo center, then follow the Max back to Waterfront? After the Expo Center we could hit Marine Drive if we want to?(For some extra miles)
A big loop hitting SW, NW, North portland, NE and back to SE?

just so those of you who haven't ridden with Huss before, he flies. Unless you can spin like a madman at 18+mph for 30 miles GEAR UP! don't be afraid of a development in the mid to high 70's. we got dropped last time, and that aint happening again. I'm going 53X18 and the gal is going 52x17. Our respective 46x18 and 49x19 last time works great for out everyday riding, but spinning that high rpm for that long and toss in a pack a day for 10+ years, we'll let's just say I was gasping for air about 2 miles in. I tried to hang on, but a flat nailed my coffin shut.
I'm down with that route, those that want coffee, meet at the 3rd Ave stumptown at 9:30ish. We'll caff-up and shoot the shit and head over to the fountain at 9:55.
layers that you can peel while riding are good. light weight gloves are good for early morn chill.
Don't be a fred! get out there!
glad to hear you guys are coming out again i felt lame when we looked back and didn't see you at all. i dont want that to happen again. i was blown away by the speed as that was my first ride in this group i was just doin my best to stick with huss, that partly why i suggested the urban route, it might keep us more aware of how others are doin.
plus i am pumped to be flying through the city with a bunch of others as i normally just ride by myself.
I guess everyone's different. I'm comfortable on 42x16 at 21mph. The downhills hurt though.
Hey now, dont scare anyone away LOL, I'll try to behave myself. My daily commute is just a tease, just cant wait to open it up. Another reason for more people to come out. This route should keep us closer together. Ride safe c'ya Sunday!!!!
Was thinking about the ride and now have a final....plan. HaHa
Up thru NW, Montgomery Park, HWY 30 to St. Johns Bridge....Willamette Blvd....to Portland Blvd (or any street heading east)..to...33rd down to Marine Drive.....205 path up to Gateway(Transit Center)......Burnside back to Waterfront, or hit Mt Tabor?
If nobody has rode the path along Marine Drive, its pretty nice.
Maybe I'll see you guys there tomorrow, see how I feel in the morn.
Ugh, I *really* want to do this ride but completely destroyed my legs at de ronde today. we'll see how i feel tomorrow.
Yea anyone who raced, I feel ya.
I'll be there rain or shine. I just need to sleep first.....zzzzzzz
I'm there if its nice out. If its raining I'm totally pussing out. Tattoo Sunday seems fitting for a rainy day, and I need some work done.
i feel you on that, my roommate is working tomorrow too, I might try and get some tattoo time in also. it's needed.

Unless is say's straight rain, showers dont mean much...lol
damn, haven't worked a sunday in months, they choose today. We got a returned machine (semiconductor equipment) and the whole crews' gotta go in. I guess when they pay 2.5m for a machine they want it to work right..hmm imagine that.
should be nice weather too, double damn.
see ya'll next month.
damn that sucks white folks, hope they pay you time and a half when they take away your riding time
for whatever reason, i neglected to double check the meeting point, and went to the skidmore fountain. I think I caught up with a few of you at portland and MLK on my way home, but I live on Dekum and MLK and decided to call it a day.
It was cool riding with you guys, legs are toast now but it was an adventure. I'll definitely try to make it again next month. Bad luck there with the yogurt and the tire, walton, maybe the next ride will treat you better.
-Ross
Riders: Me, Alex, Ross(carbonbased), Brian(itsdirtybecauseiride) and walton.
Yea that was us zacp, I saw you, was gona yell out at ya.....thought, ah just some guy on a fixed..lol
Walton had tire trouble, cut out about half way.(sucks)
Yea it was sweet weather, me and Alex got a little shower by Oaks Park on the springwater. But nice the rest of the ride.
Lets see I did 58 from my door, -14 to and from waterfront for me. So about 44 round trip from waterfront.
Hey Brian I hit Tabor on the way home, the race was going, stoped for a minute(boring) haha.
Yea, white folks, wish you could have made it. Also any others that did't make it out. Till next month...Ride safe.
This was a fun ride. I hardly ever go on long rides through SE so I got to see a lot of places I haven't seen before. I'll definitely do this next month.
it was beautiful and fast again. when i broke off in selwood i hit up the panda king. they let me park my bike inside and i get some good vegetarian chinese food...mmmmm great after riding.
i want to be doing rides every sunday morning. maybe not as long/fast but just exploring different parts of portland. let me know if anyone wants to come along, i'll be out there.

Make a post when you want to do a Sunday ride. I'd probably be up for them for the next few weeks until the trails start melting and I spend more time mountain biking.
I'd be interested in regular sunday rides, too.
Yea, I'd go every Sunday if possible?, might have to step it up to every other, or every week. Shes(wife) just gona have to understand. Ha
Maybe start at 9, to be done by Noon.?
Every Sunday should be Fixed Gear worship, try to attend when possible, to repent your sins!!!
Would anyone be interested in a shorter ride, say 20 miles at a more relaxed pace?
I would be more into a shorter ride. It's hard for me to spend that much time riding on a weekend.
And it would be fun to be able to invite my girlfriend ( who has a totally different riding philosophy than anyone here )
I would enjoy that. Any Sunday morning is good for me.
thats what i had in mind.a bit shorter a bit slower and in a pack checkin stuff out. I will come up with a suggested route and post it asap.
word, not to be down on Huss, going fast is good. But it scared my GF, she's never been in a pace line B4..
eventually it would be cool too have two rides longer and shorter faster and slower...
route info up for saturday and sunday rides.
OK, ok so I'm a speed freak. Yea, I wish more people would come out, was thinking the same thing about the slow and the fast, or the Fast and Faster group thing. I like the idea of everyone meeting, then ride with what ever group you want.
So come out and ride, let me draft off you...... (When you get that "Runners" high, you cant just turn it off...)
Also my goal this fall is to do a ride to Eugene and back, taking a one day break before coming home....can you feel the pain...haha
Hey Brian, maybe its my speedo's fault...it tells me when my pace drops..haha and laughs at me.
dont get me wrong. i have totally enjoyed the fast ones, I just feel bad when you have to wait for me. I just wanted to keep doing more rides to be building up my strength.
Yeah, it seems like once the weather gets nice we should be able to get enough people for a fast/long and slower/shorter group. The fast group could just hammer away at each other until they die and the slow group could take a few breaks to make sure any stragglers catch up. We could even have a Google map link the day before that people could print out in case they get dropped. And obviously, beer at the end of the ride, whether it's a some tallboys under a bridge somewhere or whatever.
We can just make the fast group carry all the beer, so they can't go as fast.
Or the slow group, so the fast group doesn't get too far ahead.
I am down for rides but I live in BeaverTRON.
I'd love to do something out in Beaverton. Check out this site with lots of route options. http://www.bikely.com/listpaths/country/254/region/159/city/10522
Hey Brian dont feel bad, its all good..... just different strokes for, different folks....it's all bike fun.
Yea, I've done this ride since January, would like to keep the route fresh and different.
I might have to just hit the Velodrome, to quench my need for speed....!!!
(going to try and go up this Sunday...?)
Watch a few of these before the ride....... http://www.digave.com/videos/
