A bike. I dont care if its fixed or geared. Willing to trade a Gateway Pentium 4, 2.4GHz processor, 110gig hard drive, and 512mb of ram. Has both a CD and DVD drive, however the cd drive is on the fritz (which is fine considering the DVD drive does everything the CD drive does except write CDs.) Comes with an old school CRT monitor and keyboard. No mouse.

I threw this up on the OBRA list too.

I just need a friggen bike I can ride on the road

Conversion probably. My buddy just moved into town and is living in my apartment with me. He needs wheels.

Tire levers like what $3? They are pretty handy to have in general too, so I recommend just buying some.

Be careful not to ding up your rim with spoons though. Maybe wrap them in cloth tape or duct tape.

I almost didn't realize that you were talking to me - first time I have heard you use Greg. Anyways, I got 3 of them yesterday from PSU co-op for $2.

and now I'm looking for a chain tensioner. want to spend around $20.

for the aluminum frame. it has vertical drops and i don't really feel like dropping $150 for a ENO hub. so i think i'm going to go with a regular fixed/flop wheelset with a chain tensioner.

Which type of chain tensioner you talking about?
The derailleur style or the track "rear fork" tensioner?

I'm pretty sure you're talking about the derailleur style, but that doesn't work for fixed gear? right?
A spring-loaded tensioner on a fixed gear chainline would explode.

I'm in the market for a fixed wheelset. 700c. Nothing fancy, although whatever works really. Flip flop hub is fine. It's for the bike my friend is building. I'm looking to buy them today.

i was under the impression that all tensioners on a fixed would not work. that is why it is going to have to be ss. unless you know of a tensioner that works with a fixed.

Well those two types of tensioners do two totally different things. The derailleur style pulls on the chain, whereas the track tensioner is for small adjustments/tensioning of the hub placement itself.

    Track one -

    derailleur-like one -

But yea, with a vertical dropout that only has one placement, you're suck on SS.

yeah i created a thread to see if anyone had some ideas about what to do with the frame. i found this person and i asked him what he did. he said that he made and welded aluminum track ends to the frame. while i would prefer to do this i think it may be a slight waste of money, hence the tensioner and ss.
