I started riding bikes again when I moved downtown, and I almost had forgotten how to ride since I hadn't been on a bike in almost 10 years. I got my first fixed gear a year ago and I love it, I was influenced by Sheldon Brown's website and all the portland courier kids. I like riding pieced-together fixies, because I am too scared to have a nice bike stolen. viva frankenstein bikes!

    Hi
I'm not living in Portland yet, but I'll be there in June. I'm extremely excited to get out of this hell hole I've been living in for 10 years AKA Lincoln, NE. Family is from the coast, I also have a few friends in Portland. You might recognize my name from brianforums or tarckbike, because I post on there a lot. I ride bikes because I love going fast, take photos because I love beautiful stuff (http://oneshot.me.uk) and cook delicious food because I love eating. Yeps

It's a great bike, I've got no problems with the geometry at all, seems responsive enough, cranks are good, and with GR-9s I don't get any pedal strike. The seat sucks ass though, I need to get a new one soon, and the paint is chipped really badly, so I'm getting it powder coated before I leave for portland. Do you have a pic of yours?

but i think there might be pictures of it on this thread somewhere...but i'll take some new ones.
the paint is scratching pretty bad but i'm gonna keep it anyway...make it less of a stealable object.

I am not good at these sort of things, but here we go:

Name is scott, 23, worked as a messenger in PDX for 10 months (6 months Translave/4 months World Courier Ground).

Nerf knows me well, he and I talk shit on everybody and everything - usually in good fun.

Been riding fixed for about a year I guess. Have 2 track bikes. One is a crappy worker/locker with high end parts. The other is my baby- a Pink/Purple NJS Uno Pista with a ass-ton of NJS parts. I will probably get pictures up here soon enough.

I live downtown, holler at me if you see a guy with a beard with a full back wheel of spoke cards destroying through traffic.

*edit* Here is the Keirin frame prior to build up: http://njs-keirin.blogspot.com/2007/11/uno-njs-frame-columbus-campy.html

And I am riding the uno for the time being, portland keirin frames are so hyphy!

I'm Matt. Right now I'm living in lovely Santa Cruz, CA. I'll be living in Portland sometime between September and October. I'll probably be working at the Border's when I move up, just because I work at the one down here and transferring is easier than finding another job. I'm looking forward to hanging with all of you. Don't worry, I'm way fun.

As for my bike, I'm riding around on a conversion that's not worth me going into detail. But by the time i meet all of you I'll have something respectable.

Trust me when I say this:
Riding well on a conversion is better than riding shitty on a "respectable bike."
(Not that you ride well or shitty, cause I have no idea)

I agree 100%. Riding the conversion has made me a great rider. It'll always have a place in my heart.

    Dear Portland,

We (Cara and Ling) are visiting from Boston this weekend. We really wanted to bring our bikes, but couldn't figure something out in time. Anyways, if you have any suggestions as to where one can rent a bike (note: I am eensy), let us know. On a similar note, what do you guys do for fun around here?

    Let's get shit pregnant.

EDIT: How does HTML work on here?
