What's happenin'? My name is Brian, I'm a college student here in Portland... mad love for the Northwest. I grew up in LA (gasp), and ride with Wolfpack Hustle when I'm home. I'm a total bike nerd, and spend wayyyy too much time on Sheldon's website (R.I.P.). I ride a 1981 Miyata One-Ten fixed-gear conversion, and a 1992 Nishiki Moldulus 12spd as my geared roadie. They're not pretty, but they're mechanically sound, and I love 'em both. I'm stoked to get into the pdx bike scene and meet some chronic chillers. Peace!
Hey everyone, I'm Crossett. I hail from San Francisco but I'm up here going to school. Some old pics of me and my bikes, some parts have been changed and the Uno Pista is currently out of commission awaiting a new crank set and rear wheel thanks to a run-in with a reckless driver.

Cyclocross: Campy Kona soon to be sporting Dura Ace

Road: Orbea Lobular Carbon w/Dura Ace

The Bob Jackson is my buddies, the yellow track to the left is a Uno Pista, It is much less fixed gear freestyler style now.

i think your zipps on backwords. just a thought
No its on there the right way

The short side of each spoke is leading edge.
i did not know that. i always thought they went the other way.
zacp:Zac, 24, baker of pizzas, rider of bikes, breaker of hearts, destroyer of souls. I ride a blue Nishiki Medalist. Bands play in my living room most weekends. pictures later.
any good shows coming up?
Nothing big on the horizon currently, but april 19th should be a good show, with Dance Card, Don Hellions (my roommates new band, which is really, really good) and Sprinkles. I missed sprinkles last time they played here, but everyone tells me Sprinkles is really amazing. we're at 422 NE Dekum.
on the count of bands, anyone know of one that might want to play the MASH deal on friday?
Want a cool hiphop dude? He's pretty damn awesome.
http://www.myspace.com/dareljunior
He played the art show on friday at worksound and was quite awesome.
oh dude I saw him at backspace a couple weeks ago! he's fucking chill man. do you think you could work some magic with that for me? haha.
I can try. we're covering him on our public access show and I have his contact info. I'll give him a call tomorrow.
thanks!!!!!!!!! you're awesome!
Hey. I'm Nate. I am older than most of you too, 31. Been riding forever. Used to live in Portland from 2003-2006. The wife and I are finally moving back this June. Super stoked.
Just wanted to see what the PDX bike people are up too these days. Looks like a whole new crop of kids since I lived there but that's cool. I'm definitely going to be checking in here for bike events and alleycat type stuff. Can't fucking wait to be back.
Word!

Hey,
My name is Jose aka Brujo. I'm a crusty former messenger (Seattle 5 plus years), now I ride whenever and wherever I want. I take pictures too, checkout my Flickr site. I'll be hittin' Filmed by Bike/Mash events, OBRA races and Westside Invite again this year. Holla if you see me out there. I usually role on a flat black IRO trackbike with a Goathedz B.C. spokecard.
See ya out there!

Yeah yeah thats us. We had three big shows three weekends in a row, its nice to be taking a break.
brujo -- nice photographs
yeah, nice work. What kinda camera set up are you using? ...anyway, good stuff.
Hey everyone, I'm Brian. I am 28 and new to the fixed gear thing. I have a single speed right now that I am looking to convert to fixed. I lived here in 06' for a bit and just moved back 5 months ago. I ride as much as possible, mostly just checking out the city and running errands. Mostly I ride alone, cause my girlfriend works alot, so it will be fun to have some peeps to ride with.
Thanks! I use a Nikon D70S, nothing fancy.
Greetings and salutation Portland Fixed!
Me llamo Yosef from L.A. (LAFixed.com). Just here to lurk and what not.
oh man. fun. i want to go there (to picture above)
Hello, I'm Monica. I'm 32, married to Brian (itsdirtybecauseiride),and the mother of his 5 children. I ride a Langster when I can. It's not as often as I would like but with this many kids, I'm happy to be out there at all. I work in a deli and love my family, knitting (and crafting in general), food, and making vegan cupcakes.
Any other mothers out there?

an oldie

and this one too.
i was born and raised in portland, now residing in eugene for school. i come to visit every so often and will probably be in town for every portland massacre from now on.
so according to that other dudes picture, homeboy's trispoke is on backwards
I never did post a pic of my beater.

It's not pretty, but its easy as hell to fix.
My bars are still unwrapped since I haven't had time to go to CityBikes yet.
AND the saddle, although not much on the eyes, is quite possibly my favorite yet. It's a WTB mountain saddle I found for $4.
oh and p.s. - if something looks out of place on my bike, it's because i broke the thing that didn't look out of place.
What kind of frame is that? I think it looks sweet! lugged and mustache bars. rock.
Max is NOW!:Yea I guess it was kind of a rare find.
You can also consider making one out of cardboard. So long as you pad it right, it should be fine.
dude! mission complete...thanks for the help bro!
alex: I know it's a Raleigh but been told a few different things about what model. One guy told me "Super Ace" but I've never even heard of that model. Maybe he meant Super Course. When I got it was crazy modified and had already been painted and was missing the badge. Alls I know is that it rides really well.
bicyCOLE: Glad I could help, although I think you did most of the work. Did the trip already happen?
or maybe Record Ace?
zelah:so according to that other dudes picture, homeboy's trispoke is on backwards
Yes, that zipp 3000 or zipp eliminator (don't know which model it is but they are identical in construction) is on the wrong way.
stumptown:
First off, I'm no hater of risers or flat bars.
Second, I love how one of two dudes rocking drops at this race is the one pulling ahead, dropped in position.
My name is Darrin. I used to live in Portland for 18 or so years. Moved to Socal for school, graduated with my BA and currently live in North Hollywood/Studio City, CA (Los Angeles basically). I work in LA and abroad working in the Film Industry, in camera department or lighting department, I am also an aspiring Cinematographer (www.darrinpnim.com). I shoot photos every once in a while (http://www.flickr.com/photos/22553557@N06/) but nothing professional since I focus a lot of my time on film. I was back home for a little while and rode Portland Massacre, I was one of the three that crashed on the first ghettodrome race... I ride with lafixed down here, including Yosef (aka Joey aka rapideyemovement) who posted earlier plus some other fools who are from LA that are on here. I like to come home as much as I can but work keeps me planted. I love Portland. It's nice seeing things finally getting organized up there. BTW, I ride this:

yay darrin....I might be coming down in a couple months.
here you go....

I'm on the left.
My name is Phil. I'm a fair weather rider, I am slow, I ride with a brake, and I have no endurance. I don't mind, 'cause I just ride for fun.
I'm 18 and am a senior at a little arts school in downtown. I live out in the suburbs and it sucks. I'll be moving either to NYC or DC this summer.
I'll get a picture of my bike up eventually.
Hi my name is Sean and I have lived in portland/vancouver area all my life(minus two years in vegas for school)
I ride a "track" bike and road bike and have an interest in touring. I have never raced either.
I want to learn more trickzz and get FSTR!! I like long road rides, about town rides and anything in between.
I am in the pictures above on stumptown's post.the guy in the middle with the red plaid shirt.(if you were there I was the one that puked, too much tequila)
Other interests include sparks and pizza
ps I have most fridays off and weekends too....so hit me up if you wanna ride
So...looks like I may be the only mom out there riding fixed. Oh well.
Here I am.

Being a mom is super cool. I know my mom is.
Do(es) your kid(s) ride a fixed trike?
zelah:so according to that other dudes picture, homeboy's trispoke is on backwards
Wasnt this brought up in another thread and he posted it was on right? Maybe its on backwards cause he can ride his bike backwards faster than you can forwards.
Heyo! ;)
Ohaisup?
My name is Travis. 26 years of age. Born and raised in NE Portland. Moved to Southern California years ago. Probably going to be moving back soon, with a guy from down here who also rides fix'd. Glad to see that there is going to be some rides to go on and meet some people.
I have a shitty SE bike(same company that made the PK ripper.), but she's happy, and gets ridden daily.

mine is the one closest to the camera.... sorry, I 'm lazy and don't feel like taking a close up of my bike, that I will later see in a "not hot" thread.
Haha. Thanks Jenn. Let me know when you plan to come down. There are plenty of weekly rides down here. Travis, I didn't know you were originally from Portland. Good to see there are some Portland natives in LA.
dose any one have pics of walton.
grimm:zelah:so according to that other dudes picture, homeboy's trispoke is on backwards

Heyo! ;)
no that was someone else's trispoke, thus "the other dudes picture"
Heh, redoing my intro.
Hi I'm Kevin. I was born and raised in Portland. I currently attend at a Middle school with several cyclist teachers and my good cycle buddy Lance. So I ride on a 49cm Fuji track to and from school, then usually I'll just screw around in my neighbourhood and park. And only once have I been on the Springwater Trail. Bike pictures later.
yo tetti core im the dude that gave you my water after you puked
yes yung jeezy I do remember that now that I see your bike. thanks that was much appreciated and I didn't see you again to thank you.
oh and thanks to darrin for realizing I was puking and asking for water!
felldownthewell:Do(es) your kid(s) ride a fixed trike?
We've done the trike thing and now the older 2 can ride bikes, the next two can't wait to learn (Our two year old is mad crazy on training wheels), and the baby gets to ride in the trailer.
fancyzapata:Anyone interested in a really nice chrome Pista? less than 500 miles.
What size?
TheBlackRider'sGirl:felldownthewell:Do(es) your kid(s) ride a fixed trike?

Thats awesome. My parents spent months trying to teach me to ride without training wheels but I could never do it. Then one day a neighbor kid figured it out and I was like "oh hell no" and jumped on my bike and rode over there just to show her I could do it too. I still have the (fixed) trike my parents got me when I was four in my garage. I still use it as a scooter haha
