The guys who converted my bike left the braze-on stops for the rear brake cable across the bottom of the top tube when they powdercoated it.
Does anyone know a way to remove them and then touch up the paint without damaging the frame or cracking any paint/metal?
They are on the bottom and they suck when shouldering my bike...plus being completely useless to me.

  1.

You can hacksaw/file them, but not messing the paint is tricky.

i took a grinder to all my braze ons when i had a conversion but I did it before paint.

it came out pretty smooth and i didn't even need to file the areas.

Unfortunately, patching powder coat is unfortunately pretty much impossible, unless you feel like powder coating it again.

Oh please don't remove them. You might need them again one day.

  2.

wrap the offending one with bar tape, but if it's a nice frame leave it, you may need it again someday when this "single speed" fixed gear thing passes :) j/k

or if you sell it, that would be hard to explain.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll tough it out and keep 'em.

Bar tape sounds good, definitely beats a top tube pad...ewww.
