Haha, I love that you need to bake brownies.
So who all is going tonight?
I'm still on the fence about it. A little hung over from the conversion we built last night.
i could be swayed...i cant remember how late the classes run....anyone?
My girlfriend and I will be going up around 5:30. I'm riding there from 8th and SE Ankeny around 4:45 if anyone wants to come with.
playground_terror:i could be swayed...i cant remember how late the classes run....anyone?
What if I promise you a long bike ride on a bumpy road?
Max is NOW!:playground_terror:i could be swayed...i cant remember how late the classes run....anyone?

Haha, we really should go. Fuck your brownies, Keven. Although those sound really good. Let's bike to your place after class and pick up Max and go! Even if the class is over we can still ride on the track, as long as it is light out, right? I think the classes go until it's dark, actually, right?
Max is NOW!:So who all is going tonight?

Too much fun. I have great images in my head of you in your boxers, drunk, hands covered in grease, questioning why you started in the first place.
I was so worried that I was going to have to walk home.

Wow, my co-workers actually asked me if I was okay because I was laughing so hard at this.
The class runs till dark. In reality it goes for a couple hours, then people start to bail, and we just open the track for whatever people want to do
alright....well if i decide to go out there i probably will leave around 8. So that might be too late...? I'll just play it by ear i guess.
So no one driving out in time for the class?
i have class till 7 so i cant until after that

Itll probably be getting pretty dark around then.
The sun starts setting at 8:17 PM tonight, which means it will be completely dark by 8:50 PM.
well shit. yeah i mean by the time i get home from class and get my bike mounted on the car i mean theres a chance i could get there earlier...but i dont know....
You could drive to class tonight so that you don't have to bike home and get your car.
i cant drive to class. Once I leave for work in the morning i dont have time to go home until after class. And on school days I always ride so as I don't have to park downtown.
Keven you wanna bike around the greater portland metro area sometime?
joe

i've fallen ill, and i cant go. looks like rain anyhow.
Rain can go blow me! I'll be inside if it's raining like it was yesterday around 5.

THOR4LIFE:What time is that Sunday ride? I'll try my hardist to get out there and ride with yall.
I am not sure what time people go out there or if anyone is planning on it but I really want to hit it up before I do the track dev class next wednesday to get a feel for it without a lot of people there and more daylight available. I am down to go out there anytime. I could def use tips from someone like you thor. I only know what I learned from the women's clinic that I observed and reading on the interwebz.
the wheels are paul high flange black hubs laced to butted black dt's and seafoam green velocity fusions
ps the lockring is hell of beefy.
Y'all, weather looks kick azz. Only a couple clouds (I live about a mile from the track. Yea, I know, I'm that obsessed).
As for just riding the track, the main things you have to remember is to keep calm. Sounds corny, but its true. Once you get that death grip on the bars, your wheel will start to get real twitchy, and you wont be able to hold a line. Past that, it's just getting out there and getting the muscle memory down so you know how much you have to turn and lean to get into and stay in the turn.
so I lied. The clouds just rolled in. Hopefully it just holds back the rain till late tonight
It's raining at OHSU right now.
Damn this fickle weather has me on the fence. I was kind of ready to bag the idea when I left the house this morning. Then it looked good, now it seems like it wants to rain any second.
According to to Wunderground the chance of rain is supposed to decrease towards the end of the day…

For the record, it is now raining.
It's totally easier for me to check this thread about the weather then it is to walk towards a window.
3:30--Blue skies.
All right.
Well, now its nice as hell again. We had a light shower. I dont know about yall, but I'm gonna be there. I'm too amped to get out there.
Hup!
Back to shitty weather again

the reality of living in PNW.
4:00-- Rain.
Sun here (4.10)

Gotta love Portland
Yeah, I think those showers passed from west to east. You think the track will dry out for class?
I am psyched and reading FGF and found this little tid bit I think most people on here will find nice:
People tend to get really worked up about track racing. "I don't know how to do it", "I don't know what gear to ride", "I don't know how to ride a snowball"… the list goes on! Really, it's not that hard. I mean, how complicated can it really be, you are never more than 170 meters away from the finish line!
There are some subtle differences when you compare it to road racing or mountain biking. The lack of brakes and/or gears is the biggest, however that is all forgotten once the race starts! It's just RIDING YOUR BIKE!
Here is your basic course in track racing:
Do This:
Go to a clinic. Learn. Enjoy. Have fun!
Get down to the track 1-2 times and get in some laps.
Show up and watch a bike race.
Show up and race your bike MANY TIMES!
Ask exprienced riders for basic tips on a specific race you are about to do. Don't over-analyze
Try to find a few people to ride with, to get in the swing of things and learn track craft such as pacelines etc..
Have Fun!
Don't do this:Worry about gears - get one, use it, have fun.
Worry about perfect tactics - Try one, if it works, try it again. If it doesn't, try a new one.
Worry about prize money. It's bike racing.
Obsess of points, results, etc...
Worry about fancy equipment. A bike from 1940 will work.
SHUT UP AND RACE YOUR BIKE!Now, all of this may sound like a gross simplification of track racing, or getting started in track racing, but it's really just riding your bike!

:)
Someone needs to install a webcam that points at the track so we can just reload that all day.
