is 30 a fair price for a deep v rim?

Rims have a limited life. They can only be trued so many times before they're dead, and only braked upon so many times before the surface is worn. Besides any possible aesthetic scratches and chips, a rim that has been knocked out of true / retrued so many times that it is approaching death looks the same unbuilt as one with life left. I'd be wary of anyone selling a used rim whom you don't know personally.

But yeah, good condition, $30 is a decent prise.

Yea but you guys have some of the best Custom Builders in the nation. If you want cheap NJS frames wait a month or two and theyll be "flowing like the salmon of Capistrano"

Eh. I doubt that. Look at Pistas - owners selling them barely below retail with a year's use. I don't see keirin bikes dipping down in price much at all when there's a next big thing because people will try to compensate for all the money they put into it and sell it for what they paid.

That's what I did. With some upgrades I sold my Pista for more than I paid for it when stock. Track bikes depreciate slowly.

I think some roadies operate on the paradigm that if something is more than a few years old, it's obsolete, hence the rapid depreciation vs. track bike stuff.

I'm hoping that thanks to that paradigm, I can snag up a real cheap front Ksyrium SL SSC from 5 or 6 years ago at bottom dollar...

Look at the vivalos, they flooded here in the states as soon as the NJS was out the window.

Come winter around here, all the track frames will be on the market.

haha damn...it'll fit me though. keep the frame, fork and front wheel.

That is a great bike and very under valued at $400 even if it is a decade old. Keep in mind it is a TT bike with vertical drop outs, so not a good fixie canidate. But if you want a stiff aero frame with vert drops, itd be killer.

Yeah, its too bad its not NJS. That could put a damper on Jeezy becoming the first person to win a Japanese Keirin and doing a bar spin through the finish line.

some phil woods. think they're a good deal? $250

everywhere I've looked they're about $325 or so for the pair.

can i get some feedback...pricewise that is, i know their good. they're high flange. is low flange better? what's the difference, that's one thing I really don't know.

thebikebiz has the lowest prices on philwoods and the pair costs 280. the difference between high and low flange is weight for one. low flange also puts more stress on the spokes than a high flange would meaning the high flange is ultimately stronger and more durable
