I saw a girl getting hustled into buying some craptacular conversion for $300 at City Bikes (not by the shop, some craigslist guy met her there). The dork that was selling it to her wanted $380 but she haggled him down. Craptacular doesn't begin to describe it either - stock Kilo TT front wheel, mystery rear (nothing noteworthy on it, possible suicide hub), 27 inch beat to shit gaspipe conversion frame, chainring on the wrong side, cheesed out $5 risers, SHOELACES FOR FUCKING TOE STRAPS... etc. Thing was worth $150 tops. The guy was just like "yeah it's worth $300, you know, and that won't buy you a whole lot of bike elsewhere for that money". Right. Go ask deliciousfuture about that one... or Bikesdirect.com.*

Oh also saw Cassady while doing a delivery. I didn't say hi because I was in dorky Baja Fresh outfit with my shirt tucked in and riding their dedicated work delivery bike (read: 'comfort' bike).

*Don't get the wrong idea about my post, I'm not against people riding cheap bikes. I'm against people blatantly ripping other people off and trying to play it off like it's cool, especially some cute girl trying to get into bikes...
