On my fixie, I rock the venerable and very cheap MKS sylvans with MKS steel clips and avenir nylon straps or toshi doubles when I wanna really throw down. BUt the nylon straps for every day use, so the toshi double straps don't get all fucked upped.

also I rock 'em kinda loose on the commute, just in case I gotta bail. But the toshi, I really crank down, It's hard to get in and out of them.

Also I have used the spd cleat system with good luck. ritchey pedals, shimano sh-51 cleats, and SIDI genius series shoes. That was my roadie set up. It let me move my foot position, so my arch didn't cramp.

I wanna hear h you use, what you have tried that worked or did not and not speculation, just what you have personally used and liked.disliked

If I'm using clipless.... I like SIDI Dominators. I can still walk around in them, and the 90's ones come in rad neon colors. Mostly I'm a MKS Sylvan/MKS steel clips guy tho. I rock Macbeths, cause they're skinny, and comfy, and have rubber over my toes so the clips don't dig in.

I rock the Sylvans as well, but mine are the road pedals not the track ones. I had MKS steel clips, but since I've broke a few from clearance issues I recently switched to some used Specialized plastic clips. We'll see how that goes. I'm also running a janky double strap of Christophe leather in back, nylon in front for each pedal.

Anybody using the Shimano clips? I want to know how they feel.

Suede Toshi's with the Soma clips on MKS touring light pedals, they feel pretty rad. I don't really crank them down a ton because the suede is pretty grippy. I'm a 10.5 but I have fat feet so those pedals being a bit wider helps. There's a Soma double strap too, only 40 bucks a set or so...I've seen both kinds but one has a synth (I think) suede inside that is also fairly grippy, at least more so than the laminated/coated leather they usually use.

Oh and for shoes, Nike Tiempos are really good, flat cupsole that's a little stiffer and no overlays to get caught on the clips on the way in. FC's, Abingtons and other indoor soccer shoes are similar, Blazers are ok but sometimes the vulc sole so grippy it's hard to get out. Dunks work and are cush but the overlays can be weird.

oh duh I forgot to say in my initial post, I like the vans style slip ons, i got some $10 airwalks right now. They are super grippy, and flex which I like, as it seem to prevent my arches from cramping. I have long narrow feet with high arches, so an arch support insert/orthotic is a must in all my shoes. I use the PedisportRX brand my doctor slangs from his office. They are the next best thing to custom orthotics.

I also liked the venerable adidas shell toe, but havent had good luck with the newest ones, seem like they are too wide now...?? weird

my track bike has MKS Sylvan track with MKS Steel clips and Toshi doubles. My road bike has Shimano SPD PLUS road clipless. my mountain bike has SPD mountain clipless

I have SPD pedals and the cheapest specialized shoes. That was a mistake, those shoes suck and leave me with huge blisters

Shimano clipless sandals...fatstest drying shoe in the West....I used these all winter. Light ankle socks for warmth, thicker socks and leg warmers for the cold days.

Summer almost here, no socks at all soon................feel the freshness...hahaha

Ya they dont blend(Style, hipster) with alot of different clothes etc, but I always wear shorts when riding.....they work for me.

Hey alex, the one thing I like about my sandals, is they have three straps to adjust for a nice snug fit.

    SIDIs + Look Keos.
These feel great on the bike, but of course walking around sounds like I have tap dancing shoes on and you have to watch the slippage. The SIDIs are comfortable enough that I have been walking around in them with the cleat covers on for hours. I think its a fine trade off.

    Oh yea, Adidas slip-ons.
    Right now, Gonz signatures.

soma double leather strap whatever because i gots them of the ebay for cheep. I really like them as i just had cheep stuff before. I wear the slip on vans and find them very wonderful. i have never tried clipless pedals so i am only speaking as a poor newbie perspective. buts i likes.

i rock some skinny road pedals thatve been smashed down even skinnier, soma double gates, ghetto double straps-silva straps and christophe leathers, and some sambas or vans authentics. works like magic.

hey everyone ignore that jonah kid. he's a nogoodnik. (it's will). by the way, (jonah) did you get yer bag? all i heard at the end of that night was "GREY MAIN WITH GREEN TRIM IT'S GONna be dope!! (garbled jumble as we both tear away)!!"
I wanna try clipless rull rull bad but i'm not into dropping $50+ on a pedal setup. I have some free (old) MKS Sylvan's with a jury rigged setup of nylon through the actual cage and leather fondling my toesies. if anyone has some really old and fucked up pedals n' cleats i would be way into that. bonus monies if the cleats're neon.

I keep seeing some old rad cleats at City Bikes and Recyclery. But my feet are too big for all of them. So if you have normal sized feet you could probably pick a pair up cheap, then im sure you can find some old chunky clipless pedals pretty easy on ebay.

  7.

Citbikes actually has some rad old clipless pedals right now too.

steel shimano cages, single nylon straps. i have a brake so i don't need to skid, but even putting gradual up-resistance causes them to loosen... so they're on the "to upgrade" list.

toshi doubles mks clips and wide mks road pedals. best pedal set up for the road in my opinion. since iv had that setup iv never had a scare as far as getting in a sticky situation. and that was about 2 or 3 months ago. not to mention im kind of an idiot when i ride

i use the sidi dominators exactly like above and shimano spds. although i'm going to go with eggbeaters as soon as i can afford to change out the pedals on 3 of my bikes. ouch. when i actually read it, i realize that it's probably not going to happen for quite some time.
