What are all of your experiences at local shops? Every time I go into a shop I get a completely different attitude, sometimes good sometimes bad. Is there such thing as a bike shop that is reliably helpful and not snobby?
7 corners. no snobs at all.
itsdirtybecauseiride:7 corners. no snobs at all.
...and they have colored chains.
I just went into City Bikes (7th) today and talked with Darren (I think that's who it was) was super helpful. City Bikes (19th) wasn't too friendly this morning.
We already have this thread i believe.
We do, but I'll play anyway. Bike Central's got interesting prices. $100 for nitto b125 aluminum? no thanks
the girl at bike central is super helpful and corey at 7 corners is awesome...can be sarcastic at times though.
We've done this before but I'll go again. I'm a big fan of veloshop, I've had bad experiences everywhere, but the one time one of the guys at veloshop diagnosed a crank problem and had the smarts to simply stick a washer in the right place (for free), while the guys at bike central had told me my cranks were fried, kind of made the experience for me.
walton at rivercity is pretty nice...
Ever think that you cranks might actually need some help, and that throwing that washer in there is just a temp fix? Yes, Dean and Jen might be some odd folk, but they sure as hell know what they are talking about

um, most crank bolts will bottom out, without a washer, before getting you up to 40nm of torque. this is on the jis square taper, tho' most folks don't care or dont know that.
