hey
anyone want to share a track locker with someone? brent just got one, needs someone to share it with, hes just putting one bike in there, so there's room for another or some wheels or somethin'. lemme know...
That is awesome. I really wish I had the bones to spend on some nice track only wheels.
amy how much $$$?
any chance ftf will be cancelled tonight?
stumptown:amy how much $$$?
$125 is half the cost of a locker... but maybe less ..
Novice women win and out
Novice men 10 lap scratch
Sprinters round 1
Novice women 10 lap progressive points
Novice men 15 lap points
Sprinters round 2
Novice women unknown distance
Novice men 10 lap tempo
Sprinters round 3
Racing starts at 6.30p. Hopefully no freakish storms tonight....
btw weather not looking good for FTF
aokp:i want st jizzle on my team.
sweet, i'll just follow you until the last lap and then use your g-string to slingshot past.

Okay I'm thinking about it... I just need to store wheels and maaaaaybe rollers.
It's jackasses like st jizzle that make me wish I was still a CAT 5 just so I could fuck with them.
what do you guys think about a straight blade fork for my 03 pista? I was thinking about the carbon nashbar model.
http://tinyurl.com/nw7wbj
you don't need that. nothing is wrong with the one you have.
right, because everything people buy for their bike around here is something they need.
It was an affordable upgrade to my entry level road bike. It took over a pound off my cro moly fork set up and is smoother on my hands for long rides.
so why not i guess.
it's only $80.
if you don't like it i imagine you can easily sell it for $60.
it will go great with that pursuit frame..
quit being a hater.
its a road fork anyway..
i'm sure he rides that bike on the road.
nashbar forks suck anyway.
p.s. this is the track thread. not the how to i upgrade my pista that i've had for two weeks thread.
aokp:i'm sure he rides that bike on the road.
which is why he needs to shed grams?

Amy:nashbar forks are affordable and if they end in failure, at least you'll have first hand knowledge on the subject with no major financial loss.
p.s. this is the track thread. not the "i raced track for a quarter of a season and have now earned the right to publicly embarrass anyone with beginner questions" thread.
Ugh don't get that fork, it's going to fuck over the geometry on the Pista anyway. Going from 28mm to 43mm of rake on the same frame is bogus.
good idea: dont sell current fork. see if you like new fork. you could probably even return it if you found out you didn't like it immediately.
besides, if he sells that bike, he could just put up "COMES WITH STRAIGHT BLADED CARBON FORK" in the ad and you can jack the price up.
unless you place the ad on pdxfixed, where people try to block all great money making schemes as a means of letting everyone know how much they know about bikes. pfft.
Amy:nashbar forks suck anyway.
p.s. this is the track thread. not the how to i upgrade my pista that i've had for two weeks thread.
boom.
Amy, stfu. This is the track FAQ and DISCUSSION. I had to ask the question somewhere seeing as I have nowhere else to get opinions. A pista is technically a "track" styled bike and I had a question to DISCUSS. Stop being a dyke. Everything you said was useless
Thanks aokp. I have to learn about these things some way.
LOL.
Yes, track, as in the velodrome, information about velodrome racing and discussion of veldodrome racing.
Let me summarize my useless points for you again:
- Nashbar is cheap and probably not really much of an upgrade, though it will be lighter
- Its a road fork, which means it's different than your current track fork, and will, as jeremy said, change the geometry of your bike and how it rides
- If nothing is wrong with your current fork, why are you looking at a new one?
You could turn to four other threads on forks:
http://www.pdxfixed.com/search/?PostBackAction=Search&Keywords=fork&Type=Topics&btnSubmit=Search
or
here http://www.pdxfixed.com/discussion/1487/2/itt-general-bike-questions/#Item_34
Real talk, stop getting distracted from the little verbal fight at hand and realize the truth that getting that fork is going to fuck over your geometry. Only newbies who don't know anything about geometry do "upgrades" like that, although I guess if people can get used to riding a 650 front around town then they can get used to royally fucking their trail up too. This isn't about who has raced track or who doesn't like Bike Nashbar, it's about telling you to leave your bike the way it was designed to be ridden, especially if you want to have something that handles decent at the track. But hey, go talk it up with Dean at Bike Central......
By the way Amy, Nashbar forks aren't as cheap as the rest of their little brand, they're just rebadged Kinesis forks which are actually pretty decent. Same with Performance's forks.
so. who's racing what this weekend?
i'm thinking:
-fast twitch friday
-blue ribbon
-heartbreaker
-pass out on my face

thanks for editing out the part where you called me a dyke.
that was the best part

I think I wanna do exactly that too... a lot of fast dudes will be doing Cirque de Cycling crit on Saturday so the Blue Ribbon may have a slightly easier overall field out there, but that's just a hunch.
Add Twilight Crit Tuesday to my schedule... and maybe Tabor or PIR the following Tues/Wed. Damn I love Portland summers!
true..
i'm currently scheduling my come-back at the track at the end of the month/beginning of july.
i had planned on watching the cirque de cycling crit :\
but oh well.
the twilight crit looks pretty fun, bummer (for me) that it's out in eugene.
I'll be doing the 3 day weeked of racing as well. With any luck, the weather will hold out.
yo, oxymoron, though amy and aokp have good points about unnecessarily replacing your front fork, i do realize that the unicrown pista forks are f'in ugly. since this is a track discussion page, you might want to consider getting one of the chrome tange forks that they put on the soma rushes, or a fork from spicer or kazane/keirin culture. i think that would be a much better choice asthetically, without making your bike handle like a boat in the banking. that advice is in the context of track racing, as a nice chrome road fork from ebay would be fine for street use and make your steering pretty stable.
aokp, more info on that twilight crit?
There you go Amy, you actually made a post with constructive advice instead of being a dyke.
Anyways, all I was looking for was an opinion from people I know are more bike savvy than I (I banned myself from bikeforums haha). Thank you DelBerto and stumptown...I just wanted some advice seeing as I clearly don't know much about the difference between fork styles/angles/rake and such. The fork I currently have is some aftermarket carbon fork that the guy who previously owned the bike put on it. Just trying to learn :)

quoted for proof that you called me a dyke, twice.
Indeed. Anyways, how much does alpenrose cost to ride at or is it free n sich?
amy's going to use this evidence in convincing her boyfriend to kick your ass!
i'ts free to ride on, but time is extremely limited due to scheduled practices.
racing is usually $10.
wednesday classes are $10.
