Looks like an alleycat and a showing. I think I'll check out the showing, probably not do the alleycat. I've been fixed-less for too long, I don't think I can get back in good riding shape that soon.
edit: I type too slow
the mash thing looks really cool i think ill join in on that. track stand comps are so much fun. and about that and portland massacre and pdxfixed and races and everything iv been trying really hard to get everyone to be in a good mood about it and not get to elitist or be too cool to show up and have fun so just do everything you can to get people to participate and have a good time. i just get so pissed when people ride by on there expensive track bikes and laugh at people on conversions and what not. i think this site will help though
the mash bit sounds fun. i wanted to be in town for the portland massacre but I'm in NY. (bittersweet). I feel a little ambivalent about doing an alleycat and not being a messenger. I just read this big thing about why non-messenger fixed-gear riders are ruining it for the 'true' fixsters. so that got me down, but on the other hand, if people want to be elitist ass-holes, that's their deal. Also, on an interesting but separate note, every messenger i've seen so far here in NY has been riding a geared bike. thanks for doing this Alex, hopefully it will flourish!
I was a little skeptical about the Portland massacre thing at first, but after meeting a few of the guys I'm definitely stoked for it sounds like it's going to be a really relaxed and friendly kind of thing. Unfortunately I'll be up in Vancouver, BC when it's going on, but count me in next month for sure.
I plan on being at both the mt.tabor thing and the mash event. assuming the portland massacre business is as fun as it should be, I'm stoked on it.
Too bad the portland showing for Mash is the same night as portland's own Film fest (Filmed by Bike http://www.filmedbybike.org/)
I am volunteering at FBB so I will be there all night but there are showings on Sat. and Sun. too.
Hey guys, I'm the one putting on the MASH thing. if you have any questions let me know. as far as details go here.

cool i be there
yeah thanks for setting this up. i'll definitely be there too - still haven't seen mash, though i've watched the trailer probably 25 times. haha.
Sorry! We are shocked by the overlap, and we are trying to contact jenn who set up the mash screening. really pour planning. maybe she can set it up within the same weekend, and have an amazing bike weekend in portland. we have also contacted kimmie from filmed by bike and apologized, and hope to work it out together. sorry for the confusion. mike from mash

Wow! that would be rad. I really want to make both events and the Friday night showing of Filmed by Bike is huge and there is a big ride planned for afterward. Once I saw the list of prizes for the race I was really torn as to what I should do.
.
Looking at having the screening at 11pm friday night. would people come out??!!
i'd be there, probably bring one or two bikey friends along too.
I'd be there
when does the trackstand and footdown comps start?
probably around 930-10
door for the thing are at 8, unless you're racing and get done early of course, a band will start at like 845 breakdown so if it runs timely then yah 930ish. another band then the footdown, then the movie then the prizes.
this sounds fun. i like what i've heard about the one band playing. members of book of belial, with whom i wasn't familiar, but with a name like that i knew it was metal. i <3 metal.
i mean i \m/ metal.
MASH2MASH sounds like a good time. I would love to check out a race.
i thought warcorpse broke up/went on hiatus.

I just got back from SF.. My redline 925 is actually from there and has a Mash sticker on the fork.. boyfriend lives down there and rides.. I've seen Mash probably close to 20 times.. never gets old.. super rad.. Did a massive ride around there on Easter.. super fun city! I'm moving there in May and can't wait (not that I don't love portland)! I'll def. come out for the screening..
I'll be there for sure. It'll be my first race but I think it'll be fun.
Hey, Jennx. Is this a "fixed only" alleycat?
I would prefer fixed or single speed. but are you on a road bike?
I ride fixed, but I have friends that ride SS and geared roadies. Are the later acceptable?
Jennx, I raced the mash premier in SF and it was fixed only but it would be really nice if roadies were allowed since I was hit only a little while ago on my track bike and i only have my roadie until funds materialized. (I posted my old road group on the For Sale thread to pay for new wheels and cranks for my track bike).
And is it going to be a straight sprint to Satyricon from the Salmon street fountain? $10 seems a little steep if its only going to be a few blocks.
no it's a 7 checkpoint race. I wouldn't consider a few block sprint an alleycat personally.
$10 is nothing if you seen the prizes that are up for grabs.
I think I am gonna keep it open to all.
For the race, you could just shorten your chain and hope for a decent cog that lined up with a chainring.
Seen it.
Thanks, Jennx. I'll pass the word around.
Seeya next Friday!
WARCORPSE is coming out of hiatus to play the show, I'll know about squalora tomorrow!
Anyone want to practice footdown with me tomorrow or something?
yo jenn, is shitfit really playing? i know that dude riley
wow haha damn dude, I just found out theyre playing like two hours ago. but yes they are
I swear you guys all know as much as me now.

my buddy seth and I just finished with all the last minute details all we have to say is that its on bitches.
get ready. ha!
how many miles/checkpoints?
around what time should i get there? and how much money do i need? im not doing the alleycat but might do the trackstand comp.
You are doing the alleycat my friend.
YOU ARE ALL DOING THE ALLEYCAT!
fuck that. i dont know downtown at all. plus im no messanger
This ain't a messenger race it's a movie race.
They said it's gonna be all over. You're racing this bitch into the ground.
you think i should race it?
This isn't about me or you, its about everybody.
Think about the Alamo.
Well I'm fully expecting to get dead fucking last, so yeah, you should race it.
That movie kicked ass.
And you are like Billy Bob Thorton. So Davey Crockett up and race.
