just stopped by a better cycle today. first of all, super nice. second, they told me to come tomorrow and they would help me with my bike. i still need some tires, which they had, but not exactly what i was looking for. just want a plain black 700 x 23 tire. so if anybody has any lying around let me know. thanks.
I have a bunch of tires, and whispered you on another thread. I'm curious as to what rims you went with on the surly hubs. Looks like you should have a pretty nice ride.
i just got back from converting my bike at a better cycle. i was able to use the existing crank and chainring but put in a shorter bb. so right now i'm running 52/19 and it seems to be pretty good. they showed me what i had to do, let me use their tools and they didn't charge me anything. pictures coming soon.
okay, so i have an aluminum bike/frame sitting at home and i want to convert to a fixed. there is a major problem - vertical dropouts. here as some options (don't know if they are possible or not)
1. find the "magic gear" (i would have to change the chain frequently, no?)
2. use a tensioner (limits it to a SS)
3. ENO hub (a little expensive)
4. modify frame
a. welded (possible with aluminum)
b. track end "adapter" (exist or possible to make?)
5. sell the frame and use money towards one with track/horizontal dropouts (i like the frame)
i think the idea of an adapter, i don't see why something can't be manufacture and attached to the vertical dropouts. that option i think would be the cheapest and allows for part swapping.
thoughts and ideas...
eno hub? or just rock a sweet singlespeed and stick with your conversion
