I am thinking of a getting a new frame. Any suggestions for a long wheelbase/bigger clearance bike as compared to my 07 Pista?
I somewhat like the Soma Delanchey but it doesn't seem too special for the price.
Maybe I should get a used vintage frame...
I was reading about the kilo tt earlier today and someone mentioned it could take up to a 42c tire. The wheelbase is about 40mm more than a pista. Plus its cheap.

What size is your pista? Im looking for a reason to dump my old Peugeot on CL.
Surly Steamroller?
The Mercier doesn't have a frame that fits me. Weird jump from 55 to 59cm top tube.
The Surly Steamroller is certainly a candidate - does that take tires bigger than 28c?
Oh my Pista is a 55cm. I like it just fine but I want to have a more practical bike that takes different tires and has room for fenders.

Noel from CityBikes has a deLancey. I think its pretty smokin' of course I'm a sucker for nice tubesets and shiny lugs
Also, maybe check out the the salsa frames at Revolver Bikes. i forget the model name...its like enchilada or casserole or something.its in the window, or was..
it's like a cyclo-cross X track frame kinda thing.

Do you recall what they charged for the Soma?

I asked him once and he told me he tries not to look at the receipts when buying bikes, LOL. wish i had that kinda budget.ha ha I don't think they carry them I may be mistaken. best bet is to call them.sorry not much help huh?
I have a Bianchi San Jose and while it's not as aesthetically pleasing as a Pista I think it's probably the most versatile bike you can get for the money.
Fits 38's.
Touring geometry
Eyelets for a rear rack
Handles singletrack fine
Throw skinny tires on it for a road bike
Easy fender mounting
Perfect for singlespeed cross
The San Jose is a great bike and you make good points but only available as a complete bike only. No?
if i recall correctly the delancey frameset is about 600
Ah, you should check out the Surly Crosscheck. Similar frame to the San Jose and can be built up into 10,000 different bikes.
the crosscheck is nice, my GF has one and she likey. but it's heavy, butted tubes woulda been nicer.
The Soma Delancey looks super classy in person. I'm going by that guy at City Bike's build though, which is total high class.
The Moteobocane Jury that Mike @ Bikesdirect on BFSSFG was talking about looks perfect for what you want. Built for high tire clearances, able to get a fender and rack on, track ends for FG... seems like it'd be bad ass for a fixed CX bike. Or you could wait for the Kilo TT to come in 55, but both frames are deals for sure...
I want to get some 35's on my KHS and take it off road sometime...
The steamroller only takes up to 700x38, the cross-check can take 700x45 with fenders. Plus it has tons of braze-ons.
I've been riding one for a couple years and love it. These guys have them for cheap $303.50 http://www.universalcycles.com/

hey MIN, wanna trade your 55cm pista for a 55 cross check? check out the geo and see if it'll fit ya

Sorry, I want to just transfer all my parts over without buying anything but a new frame. So that mean 120mm rear spacing, 27.2mm post diameter, etc.
I just bought new wheels and seatpost so I don't want to sink more money into my beater.
Anyone have something to say about the On*One Pompino?

Moteobocane Jury - Prices aren't set in stone yet but probably under $300. Clearance up to 700x42's. Black, chrome, orange, blue and silver are the colors. They expect them in 90 days. Here's crappy pics:

The fork is a nice touch, kind of like the stiffened aero steel forks that some NJS builders use. Should make a perfect commuter / CX / totally un-track bike.
Thanks stumptown. That Jury sounds like a legit frame esp. for the price.
that is the same fork design as on the cross check and double cross. which I think a soft, bouncy turd with misaligned fork ends. They look identical.
I would use a carbon fork with any frame that I buy, unless it was a custom vanilla or sach or something ultra-pimp steel. I don't like steel forks generally. I put a crabon fork on my Pista is the ride was 100% better and stiffer by a big margin.
I really like the price point of that Jury - maybe I should wait for it to come out.

It's a sweet bike but I like the cross check a bit better for the following reasons:
- fits bigger tires
- rack eyelets
- can put gears on it
- cheaper
