Post any logo ideas you have in this thread by April 21st and we'll vote to see what becomes the new face of pdxfixed.com.

This is a a contest to redo the header of our website so you'll need to create something that could fit above the menu of our site.

Max- How about trading that strikethrough for an ampersand, for, some of us share allegiance to both.

j/p- I really like your original design, though. You have my vote.

Maybe someone could do one of those etcha-sketch cityscapes ala huf. that could draw from some ca input and fixed gear roots in sf.

    GREAT IDEA!

I don't hate anyone. I'm originally from SF anyway. But I don't care how people feel about Californians. Own your feelings, man. Hahaha.

  3.

I'm from LA and I can definitely say I hate California. Seriously, Arnold Schwarzenegger?

I definitely love San Francisco, but I don't care how other people feel about it. Hate it, love it, whatever.

  4.

SF can be good, but theres also really shitty people in part of the city. I'm just generally not a fan of yuppies and SF is full of dudes who wear leather loafers with no socks for their "weekend" shoes.

Haha, that's a good point. I grew up in SF, so I'm sure I'll always love it. 13 years definitely means something. I avoided the Marina at all costs.

I just hate the wave of mutilation thats coming up from the south. Portland is Portland, and I wanna keep it that way. If I wanted to live in LA, I would live there already. I know some great Californians, though...

  5.

Can you imagine having to grow up there? And when you're supposed to think its normal to like people based on if they own a BMW or a Mercedes.

Yeah, that's fucked. I'm not a big fan of so cal. And I agree with you, Zac - but people from LA never last long in Portland. A year maybe, the rain and unemployment rate (my two favorite things!) push them out.

I spent some time in East LA recently with a buddy that lives there. Way cooler than I expected. He took me over to the LA most think of that aren't from there, the one with the... As David Cross puts it, "the parade of delusion" I wanted to get the fuck out of there asap. East LA is great though... nothing like watching a crackhead shit while still in mid-stride to start the morning.

I like how this thread did one thing, then it just turned to hate for Cali. Haha. Love it.
Honestly, I think when April Fools rolls around we should do exactly what max has up there. Itd be so funny.

Anyways. Its still the 21st and here is my submission for a identity here:
    http://www.benguernsey.com/work/pdxfixed/PDF/PdxFixed_BG_0804221.pdf

Theres 3 for consideration with a spoke card and tee shirt option for all. Plus some random stuff.

I will make it into JPGs tomorrow for all you lazy buggers who dont like PDFs. ;)

  6.

wow, I really like these. I would sport any of the concepts, but I really like the simplicity and cleanness of Concept 1.

although i also really like 3 as well. fuck.

    Max is NOW!:

Growing up in LA was great, and I love to go back from time to time. I completely agree with you, Max; the whole notion that you have to have (material) things to be rich is absurd (Rather, I believe I am rich because I desire less). But, that is not to say that you should feel oppressed because of other peoples' basis for constructing value. I just let that shit go... LA has a lot of other amazing things to offer other than douchie hipsters, soccer moms driving road-weapon suburbans, and 15-year old coke-heads. Dodgers, anyone?! Yeah.... didn't think so...

    Anyways...
Grimm, that shit is awesome, man. I really like the 15mm peanut butter wrench... classic.

*edit* Out of the three you proposed, I like Concept 1 the most.

    less dot coms

  9.

whenever I see dot com in print, i hear that yahoo ad with the cowboys singing "yahooooooooo".....then a barber shop quartet goes "dot commmmmm"

so I guess i'm with the less dot coms. i see folks rocking _______ .com and I think "there goes an internet nerd"

because I'm a jerk like that.

Hm. Maybe itd be better to take the 'dot com' off the shirt (we are all internet nerds, but no need to call attention to it in public). But it didnt really work to write '.com' underneath the banner and when added the banner the whole name became a little smaller.

Max that is great for the flickr group.

So does anyone have any suggestions or opinions against any of the above? It seems #3 is favored and I think itd work out nicely, and especially if we do stickers like shown the whole thing would kinda make sense.

yeah...it'd be cool to integrate the whole "bikes are fun, let's keep it that way" slogan...seeing as how our board seems to be ALOT more encouraging and accpeting than other cities' boards...not to trash them...but we rule...so maybe putting that phrase somewhere into something in #3 set would be kewl.

I like the idea of a slogan. Maybe it could be a little top back of the shirt and integrated in the header of the site.

I also like Max's sticker with cranking the smiley face around. If/when I get around to printing stickers I wanna get that in the mix too.

The color scheme is my favorite part! I might prefer just a white T-Shirt though.
