i've heard good things (on tarckbike) about athena 11. more "budget" than super record or whatever else, heh.
Yea. Road fuck unite. Had a great ride today doing the Canby Fairy route. One wrong turn but we just rolled it and took the shitty 99e a couple miles. The ferry was kind of fun to do with a nice climb out coming off the river. Some nice hills, nothing above id say 200-300 of gain at a time.

That ride had the opposite effect on me, but after three hours of being back I can finally feel my feet.
well, just purchased a new road bike. pics to follow.
Didn't you already have the davidson?
It didn't have enough performance for cat 5 racing up at Tabor.
ahh
In that case, I hope he's getting a scattante.. cuz that'll have performance written all over it
Apparently scattante is the present progressive form of the verb scattare which means 'to be released'. I think it is a fancy way to say shitty and lazy
To "scatter" if you will
Incase any of you need a new fork, veloshop has a bunch of new and newish take off forks for sale. EC70s and EC90s. New EC90slx is like $125 .. A couple of cross forks too (an edge cross fork also). can't really get a better deal anywhere.
only two more weeks till cherry pie!
fuck yes. I finally have a race-ready road bike. I think I'm gonna try domestiqueing it up for aubrey in cherry pie, but I really wanna try and win a stage of Banana Belt
it's a series..
Maybe i'll just have to win the series then
Jebus. This stuff is coming on fast. What cat are you people racing? I am feeling fat and lazy. Can we just cruise, smoke some weed in the woods for a couple laps then have a 2000m mass sprint? Sounds way more fun.
cat4 and im probably not racing until march-ish.
AGREED. I like to think CAT 5 road races should be centered around smoking weed and bunch sprints. Crashes too.

I think I'll be in the 4s. Cant even fathom how much I'm not looking forward to that damn hill.....
I've been trying to train to my weaknesses (hill climbing and cardiovascular threshold mostly) this winter. I went from being able to run for about 5-10 minutes to being able to go for about an hour. I'm building up a little muscle on my upper body too. My core, chest, and arms weren't quite strong enough to keep myself stable starting the higher gears so I started working with a couple 16kilo kettle bells and I'm starting to see some satisfying results just inside of two months from starting.

This is the best thing I've read all week.
THOR4LIFE:I think I'll be in the 4s.
Goddamnit.
aokp:cat4 and im probably not racing until march-ish.
Ill prolly miss racing with ya then. Unless I keep the Landshark (which Im slightly considering…looks like some good crit series out east).
Im gonna be out of shape for early season stuff, but screw it. As long as I stay up right I will be happy.
I was pretty shocked to see you were racing in the same CAT as me at piece of cake last year, Kevin. It was my first road race and I crashed early and never caught back up with the pack. How long have you actually been racing road for?
lol, cherry pie was my 1st road race ever as well. I've only been racing a bike for a little over 2 years.
I will have 2 team mates in the cat 4 womens field.. should make it a little easier.. or i'll end up giving someone a lead out and getting passed by everyone at the finish line ..

I'm not looking forward to it either, but at least it's not a 10 minute climb.
If I can get a good result in the 3's, I'll be happy. We'll definitely have a few teammates out there but I know one of them is hurting bad to win the race in my category.

Very quick progress. Were you doing anything before you started racing that helped you with that heavy ass sprint or did it just kinda come naturally when you began?
I was a rugby player for a good long while before I started riding. Was also a pretty decent rock climber. Both use a lot of leg.
According to my friend who played rugby with you, you were always really fast and explosive in the first quarter and then cooked by the end. Sounds like a case of... fast twitch majority.
Who, tank? He was the only guy I know that played with me. Unless you know someone from Eug. Running wasn't my thang.
went on a ride with zak and joe (zenon) today. Up through forest park to skyline to thompson. it was really fun, not long, but the first real road type riding Ive done. I had a blast
Zak is king of doing a million variations of Skyline rides...

Mason V.
i've been riding up tabor every night on my way home. its all i can fit in as a weekday 8-5er. sat rest, sun long road ride. probably 125-150 base miles a week is all.

How the fuck do you know Mason??? Last time I heard, he was still in Hong Kong or some shit teaching. I havn't seen him since like, well, the last season he played. He never came out for PSU (least when I was with them)
Hey its Kyle Murphy here
Anyone racing cherry pie tomorrow?
I can get a ride there but the kiddo I'm getting a ride from is racing 5bs and I am racing 4s and don't want him to have to wait around for a couple of hours to give me a ride home.
So yeah, if anyone is racing in the pm, ie 1/2, 3, or 4 and wats to give me a ride home with my bike, that'd be kinda cool.

I didn't regester early like a damn fool.
4s still have plenty of spots open. Which is good. Somehow, I managed to register as a womens cat4..... I emailed the race director twice, but no response. Guess I'll have to hash it out tomorrow.
