Not a joke.
I like getting on my roadie and ridding, and training and racing so lets discuss: plans for next season, training, teams, OBRA, the pro tour, Lance (If we have to), and generally everything that has to do with ridding a bike on the road with gears.
Is being aero really sufficient? I mean look at Walton. He's fast. Langsters aren't arro. are they?
Well I got my CX bike so I'm going to put slicks on that and take it on some road rides before track season... looking forward to doing the long stuff with gears and brakes, hills on a 60 miler fixed really start to tear one apart.

sweet man. which cx bike? pics?
i like road cycling in general, never been interested in racing though.
Well, all of you who like to ride the roadies, lets ride sometime.
Heres what I'm working with

my road bikes (they look different now - these weren't my pictures)

windsor cyclo from bikesdirect. basic starter bike w/ 105 stuff, ultegra rear der., carbon fork/al frame. fun so far, but need to dial in the derailleurs/brakes.
Nice
What are you doing with that Pinarello if your not racing it?
noice. my last road bike was all 105 (from 1990) and it worked really well.
Too much bikes. Not enough dick jokes.
Srsly though, I'm thinking about getting myself a shitty shifter bike again at some point, and when that day comes, I would be honored to eat you fellas dust for a while until I could keep up.
Join the spandex wearing crew Tarvis, it only makes you a little gay, well maybe more than a little.
Being that my kids size spiderman costume won't cover a third of my body, it might be in the cards.
How about a 250 pound man in a xs skin suit

why?
The question is why not, now back to discussion.
I want to start ridding again on my roadie, but I know none of the routes out here, and I dont want to ride through all of Gresham to find some good rides. Any suggestions?
Blake:Nice

thanks
the pinarello is more of a collector thing to me. it mostly gets admired from afar, but i take it out for rides some. never in the rain though, and i worry about locking it up.

Cool cool.
How does it ride? I've never had experience on a persuite road frame, only modern TT bikes.
well i've never ridden a modern TT bike, so can't compare directly but it's fun. feels very fast but it's best at going straight and i don't like climbing with it.
i ride an edge first, too; good shit.
aero>weight
Some of you have seen my roadie whip.

Im going to start getting back into some longer road rides during my winter break (right after xmas). Im kind of taking it easy and letting my body heal up for now by just commuting and starting to go to the gym to work on core muscles. My training calendar consists of laying down 1-1.5k miles (half on my fixed half on my roadie) between late Dec and April.
As for being aero, it matters to an extent, but fails in comparison to being fit. But aero dynamics become more and more important in more competitive events, and it matters more in longer events than faster ones.
Im def down for some riding partners once I start getting in my base miles. Mostly interested in long weekend rides. Probably do some 50-70mi and work up into doing centuries.
After Xmas I will be starting my base miles up again so anyone willing to ride 50-70 miles on weekends, and 20-30 miles in the afternoon on week days get at me.
i think my roommate will jump on this thread since it has AEROOOO in the title.
under my SN.

ha your upcoming maint/repair of my bike will probably be put off til after finals (a week from tomorrow or so), but after that sure. lets riiiiiiiiiiiide.
I still want to ride out to the coast

he looks like a couple people i've seen sprinting at the track...
this a fixed gear/singlspeed forum. keep this shit on bikeforums. with that said i own a davidson and would like to ride it with yal.
I still need to build my roadie
you guys do realize gears are the new tarck, yeah?
heard cyclocross is the new tarck
word. shit's real talk.
i know. thats why im kinda not wanting to get a cx bike. i int wanna seem like a trend hopper.
nah man, you'd be the pioneer.
trend hopping = buying a deep v'd out road conversion tomorrow when you haven't ridden bikes in the last 5 years.
i dunno...

AERO IS TEH AWESOME. GRAVITY BIEK!

i thought Gravity bikes are the new tarck...seriously though im totally up for laying down the base miles i should be done with my roadie just after christmas. LETS DO IT!
I'm just cable stops, cables and housings away from finishing the road bike. Not soon enough.
I'm an entire search for a new frame away from finishing my road bike :(
zacp:I'm just cable stops, cables and housings away from finishing the road bike. Not soon enough.
Almost forgot, I also need this: http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?sku=25264 THEN, it's done.
so many road parts!
So Im gonna set up a tentative long road ride for Jan 3rd/4th lets aim for 60-70miles. I may do a 40miler Dec 29th or 30th too (I have that week off). Both of these are obviously somewhat weather pending since it is winter now and who knows when we may see an onslaught of bad weather. Medium pace of about 17-19mph, and probably something flat.
Whos in?
haha, this says "are-ooooooooooooo"
i'm in, grimm
AERRROOOOOOOOOOOONTZ
in.
K_phomma:Is being aero really sufficient? I mean look at Walton. He's fast. Langsters aren't arro. are they?
Most of your drag is created by your body. Walton doesn't put up much wind resistance.
^-- Yeah, hence during sprints hed often sport his RCB skin suit.
Does anyone have any article with real data and tests on aero dynamics? Like how much drag is reduced with aero bars, a skin suit, show covers 50mm+ wheels, etc? Just out of curiosity.

I would be in but I'll be in the Bay area, doing hill repeats on Tam.
Oh and the whole discus being areo thing was kind of a joke like trying to be uber euro, but go with it I like it.

Chris, Team S&M (or at least on faction of us) meets every Sunday at 8 am in
Sellwood. We won't be there this week as we will all be at the USGP.
Starting the week of Dec 14th, we will be back on road bikes. We typically
ride 25 - 50 miles (less in the winter, more is spring and summer) and ride
anywhere from 15 to 25 mph depending upon the mood. Oh, and there is
usually a coffee stop in the middle, which many folks don't like. So, if you
think that is your speed and your thing, just show up any Sunday.
Im rather tempted to go to the Hammer meet up, as Ive been thinking a team may be good for me since the end of the last season's road races.
i will ride the shorter 40 miler one. sounds fun.
Grim I still have your gloves, actually they were really nice tonight
